A Mersey-inspired tune with lush orchestration, accordion, and a huge dose of pathos. My alternate title was "Ferry Cross New Jersey," but I thought better of it.

Sad-Eyed Lonely Girl

Fuzz guitars! Electric sitar! Autoharp! Harpsichord! A tribute to hippy chicks with long flowing hair, peasant blouses, and eccentric but loveable personalities.

What's So Weird Is

No aspiring guitar player growing up in the 70s could escape the influence of the guitar gods like Clapton, or bands like Cream, Deep Purple, Bad Company, etc. This cut explores several of those influences, with a great Jon Lord-inspired organ track by Matt MacKelvey.

Looking For Some Light

Rockpile, with members Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds, were one of the greatest and most clever bands in music history. Chuck Berry was America's rock and roll Poet Laureate. This is my cheeky take on those elements, a kind of Anne Rice-meets-Chuck Berry tale of Gothic romance.

The Devil Took A Bride

One of the first songs I ever learned on guitar is a haunting piece called "500 Miles," and one of my favorite lyricists is Gordon Lightfoot. "Trace" combines those elements, along with a baritone guitar solo as an homage to the great Glen Campbell!

Without A Trace

My take on Stones-y rock and roll with a "Gimme Shelter" counter vocal by soulful Shawn Wiggins, a local LA legend.

Old Sins

The opening track of the album, the intro lick firmly establishes my musical roots, as does the bridge. Lots of Beatles-inspired "easter eggs" in this one.

A quick demo of my 50s-inspired Fender Esquire. Amps include Vox AC30, '59 Fender tweed Tremolux, and Glaswerks Zingaro. Sometimes, all you need is one pickup!
