Inspired by Alyag's habitually ongoing co-op video game antics with his partner and copilot-in-perpetual-mischief, Bex, "Retropunkalypse" is a song about star-crossed lovers flourishing in the aftermath of the world's end. In direct contrast to the starkly tenebrous lyrical theme, the heavy melodic guitar-driven soundtrack serves as an uplifting anthem of hope and perseverance in the face of the utmost dire circumstances. So long as they have one another, the formidable team shall juggernaut through all.

It's the fourth year anniversary of the release of my debut EP, "Recreational Schizophrenia"! 

To celebrate, I've conjured an official remix of one of my favorite tunes therefrom, "Argyle Twinkletoes", edited down to a better optimized flow after years of inclusion within various live sets, and with some additional instrumental elements, to make it ssslap harder than ever before! 

For a bit of back story, consider the following scenario:

Your roommate / best friend spots you come home after work and remove your shoes to reveal a pair of argyle socks you'd nabbed for a steal at your local supermarket, and proceeds to make fun of you via the off-the-cuff phrase, "Argyle Twinkletoes". You cackle hysterically and turn that into the decided title for your new mid-tempo electro dub metal tune.

Four years later, now armed with a considerably evolved sense of both music production and marketing, you decide that said tune had never quite received the spotlight it deserved, and set off to conjure a slightly edited-down remix augmented with some significant punch and polish. As a result, one of your all-time favorite self-produced tracks -- not to mention live set staples -- slaps harder than ever before (quite literally, if you consider that snare), whilst highlighting all of its original funky grooves and melodic guitar-driven hooks.

I wrote this EP a year and a half ago about a relationship I had. I never released it till now cause it's not like my usual stuff at all, but it was more of an outlet to cope. It kind of goes through the ups and downs and the cycle of relationships that we all kind of have, so maybe you can connect with it in some way. I may never do something like this again, but I'm glad it's finally out there at least. Enjoy, and thanks to Spire for the dope beats.
