Deep House

Since i first heard Vivaldi´s Spring in the version of Max i fell in love with his interpretation so deeply, i always knew i had to use it at least once in one of my podcasts im compiling once in a while. It got so stuck in my head that one night last summer i dreamt about listening a new electronic version in a fictional place and i remember i really wanted to know who was the artist that did another take on this beautiful piece. After i woke up i noticed nobody yet had done it and it became clear that it would be myself doing the new version. Vivaldi´s 4 seasons is something special since i was a young child as it is the vinyl we listened to every christmas while we were waiting to receive our gifts. Now i feel the circle closes after all these years and i hope my version is doing the in this case 2 Originals a favour and giving these masterpieces another modern twist people can enjoy and get in touch with classical & electronic music.

Nick Brennan’s Tripswitch journey through electronic music reconvenes in 2018 with his recently launched onedotsixtwo label’s next unique artistic step forward. The platform’s third, highly anticipated release – ‘Voight Kampff’ – is, perhaps, the finest track so far from the occasional, intensely creative collaborative project joining Nick Warren and Tripswitch. This outstanding package is further bolstered with an exceptional set of remix interpretations courtesy of Cid Inc. and Öona Dahl. 

The two Nicks first connected back in 2006, when Warren licensed two Tripswitch tracks for his (now classic) Global Underground ‘GU30 Paris’ compilation. Over time they became good friends, with Warren becoming something of a mentor to Brennan, and with their musical tastes so aligned going right back to the 1980’s, it was inevitable that a studio partnership would develop when the time was right. Having first remixed Joey Fehrenbach ‘Wolves’ (The Soundgarden), their powerful studio chemistry then saw their debut original track ‘Savannah’ appear on Hernan Cattaneo’s ‘Balance presents Sudbeat’ comp, before being released as a single on the Sudbeat label and going on to become one of the hottest progressive releases of 2017. 

Cid Inc.'s music is already embedded deep in the hearts of many electronic music fans. Recent releases on Sudbeat, Lost & Found, Perspectives Digital, the wonderfully esoteric Armadillo label, as well as his own Replug Records, are some of the latest examples of his exceptional craftsmanship. Cid Inc. always looks to compose something that is not only profoundly memorable but also deeply moving, and as such, is a perfect artist to reinterpret ‘Voight Kampff’. The Swedish DJ/Producer with an uncompromising passion to create a contemporary, cutting edge sound, exhibits his inimitable blend of hypnotic house and techno to perfection here. Molly continues to cement RDV’s reputation as a refreshing outlet for contemporary house with the expertly-curated Recit De Voyage Volume 2, a generous compilation that collects a number of established and upcoming producers to deliver vital, sincere and wholly individual music.

Leading the charge is Finale Sessions founder Michael Zucker, who follows his appearance on RDV's first release (as one half of the duo Prophets of a New Generation) with ‘City Streets’; having previously appeared on recordd with the likes of Terrence Dixon, Boo Williams and Norm Talley, he delivers his own nocturnal vision, a gentle and smooth soundtrack for warm Midwestern nights. Molly’s own contribution ‘Poble New’ follows, demonstrating her well-established mastery of tight grooves, atmosphere and subtle jack.

Douala, an artist associated with cult label Blorp, brings us ‘Orbiting’, a powerful slice of liquid funk. 
Modern House Quintet, presents ‘Plaka’, his first release away from his MHQ imprint, and arguably the record’s outright deepest moment. 
The founder of Popcorn Records, Siler ups the tempo for ‘French Manicure’, a playful, fizzy house bubbler.
Discovered at New York’s Elsewhere club during only his second-ever gig, John Silas represents the Eastern seaboard on irresistibly smooth cut ‘One Time’. 
Silas’s nocturnal groove leads in nicely to the more experimental, dense forest of sound forged by Kristian Amou & The Modern Quintet Ensemble on Bokobimbo. 

Finally, Orion hits with the MPC front-and-center for the undeniable groove of ‘Just Have You’, which rolls sensually towards a soulful vocal sample, culled from the dustiest of wax.
