Hey guys, thanks for checking in with me. "It's Friday Somewhere" was recorded on a Thursday, that was being treated like a Friday, at least where I was. Part I of this set starts a little "off-vibe" from where my music usually lands. I was running through the new and new-to-me tracks I had left over from the "Getting Digital with It" set. I was freestyling and wilding when I got into Part II. Things definitely start out a little slow, and then ramp up at the end. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Your support means a lot. It's Friday Somewhere - Part II

So, the title says it. It's been a while since I've posted a new set. This set comprises new and mostly new tracks. This set is not perfect. I struggle with putting out sets, which IMO are not worthy. But, I have people in my ear telling me it's okay, live music sets are never perfect. And, they are right. I've been trying to implement some advanced mixing techniques recently. You may hear a few of them in this set. Even when I'm not posting sets, I continue to dig for and find new music. IMO, there has been quite a bit of decent music released recently. If you want to find the hidden gems, you must put in the time digging through the mounds and mounds of released music daily. Been a Minute

I was fortunate enough to get invited back to, what in my opinion, is one of if not the best parties of the year. The Essential Freaks invited me to play the silent disco of Season 4. I am thankful for the opportunity to play anywhere outside of my home, so I agreed. My set time was 7 AM on Saturday morning. Not the most ideal time for others to get a chance to hear what you have to play. With that in mind, I decided to recreate my Season 4 set, and share it here, with you guys, my loyal followers. Considering the time of the set, I wanted to bring an uplifting and loving vibe to the mix. I did not create a preset playlist, I rarely do. I like to play from the heart, and soul, and just see where things take me. I've put a selection of tracks together, that in my mind, and soul, just make you feel good! I feel like I succeeded in my quest to drop an early morning set that helped people start, or end their day, on a good note(pun totally intended). If you are here listening to this, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You don't know how much I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my Journey. Season 4 - Vibey Silent Disco

This was my first ever set played IN PUBLIC! My friend couldn't attend this event so, he asked me to take his spot.  It's a huge leap from playing in the living room to playing the Silent Disco at one of the biggest shows of the year!  Following some of the heaviest hitters in Florida made me so nervous I was wishing they cancelled the set entirely. LOL.  While I had a couple flubs, I gave zero shits because I got lost in the groove and let the Bass do its thing.  

Season 4 - MixxKayla's Debut

Okay, so I just bought a massive pile of new, and new to me, tunes. Over 115 tracks, to be exact. My music library undergoes a massive amount of editing, categorizing, and sorting before I even play it. As you can imagine, especially if you spend time digging for music of your own, I was excited to play them. Well, we were having friends over for the Holiday weekend, and everyone and their uncle plays music now. As the host, I knew I wasn't going to get much of a chance to play, so I decided to hop on the night before, and this is what came from it. The name says it all, "It's My Turn!" to play. The result is this ~90-minute set with what I think is a great selection of music in it. I've been meaning to explain my sets a little more in detail. So, most of my sets are recorded after I get new music. After sorting thru them, I usually start playing them in some random order and most of the time end up playing them all in one set. I do this mostly for myself, so I can listen to my music library and learn it better. The problem with this strategy, though, to me at least, is that sometimes I end up playing some super vibey, female vocal tracks with some of that filthy dark electro I love so much. With that said, I'm trying to make more of an effort to include music that fits within, or close to within the same vibe in sets, and instead of playing all the vibes in one set, maybe create two or more, with the same "type" of music vibe. I don't know if it's right or wrong. Sometimes I start playing, and the journey begins, and who knows where I end up. Which, to me, is the most fun part of it all. It's My Turn!

I've been spending a lot of time working on my music library. Currently, my library has just over 6,000 tracks. Granted, I don't play from all 6,000 each time I step behind the gear, but knowing what songs to include to select from as you play is critically important to me. With that said, I've been spending a ton of time cleaning up, and organizing my library. I use colors for energy, star ratings for likability, and a lot of tags. The tags are words and phrases that help me sort songs into "carts" or folders. To get this completed on my entire library is a massive undertaking, and I'm nowhere near complete. But, I have gone through quite a few, and anything newer has been sorted to my new standard. This allows me to follow energy levels, vibes, and feels for sets. I'm not much for preplanned sets. I usually know where I am going to start, and just ride the vibe from there. This set is my 1st set since I've completed a massive update to my library. I played a couple of different genres in this set, and it was fun. This is my 1st time genre-bending. I have more that I could say on this topic, but this is getting too long-winded. Social Tonic

My good friend, DJ Global, decided he was going to start throwing parties at his warehouse. He asked me if I wanted to help. Never one to miss the opportunity to be a part of something awesome, or throw a party, I said hell yes. This is the 2nd time we've had a party at said warehouse, and the 1st time we decided to record the sets. My timeslot was 12 AM, and Global played before me. Because I followed him, and it was 12 AM, I had to go a little harder than I usually do. Typically, I will ride around 128-132 BPM. This set rides ~132-138 BPM. I had fun playing the set, but as always, I wasn't sure how it sounded to the listener. After listening to it I found myself pleasantly surprised. It was a fun set to play, and even more fun to listen to. I hope you find it as much fun as I did. Warehouse V.2 - DiscoDave

When your friends throw a warehouse party and "force" you to play...HA!  This was probably the most fun we've all had in a while.  I love the vibes of our family!!!! Never underestimate the power of the family you CHOOSE, that chooses you right back.  Love is thicker than blood sometimes.

This is a very special set for all my loyal listeners to indulge in and enjoy. We were fortunate enough to have a very special guest in the house the night of our Warehouse V.2 Party. The one, the only, Axel V, or as I call him, "The Legendary Nostalgic Breaks Remixer" popped in, and he didn't hold back. Axel dropped dope beats for our listening pleasure, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Axel was gracious enough to allow me to record the set, and even more gracious to allow me to post it here on my Soundcloud. I hope you enjoy this set as much as I did, and still do. Axel is one of my favorite breaks producers in the business. His booming bass remixes and super-long, seamless transitions are second to none. Special Guest - Axel V - Warehouse V.2

I've been practicing my vinyl mixing skills a lot lately. I've recorded a few other vinyl sets, but nothing that I thought was good enough to share with my loyal followers.  I recently scored a massive haul of  Old School Florida Breaks. If you are fan of Florida Breaks from back in the 90s and early 2000's, you are going to love this set. There will be plenty more coming in the future. It takes me a while to get the records in playing shape. They are filthy and grimy. One good pass through the ultrasonic cleaner, and they shine like a little jewel in your hand. As always, thanks for listening.
