INTRODUCTION



The work is inspired by a novel with the same title, "Skin". People are born with a skin that
cannot be removed. Wrapped in sound, we dance in skins, and find the freedom with
limitations, and face ourselves in expression at the end.

关于《晓霞》

《晓霞》题目出自作家钟阿城的散文化倾向系列短篇小说集《遍地风流》中的一篇小说《春梦》中的女主人公晓霞。该声乐作品《晓霞》结合小说的内容，表达了两位主人公安直和晓霞在与当今截然不同的年代下如何安放个人的情感、如何面对儿时的情愫以及如何在时代大流中沉浮最后永远分开的故事。

a few words about XiaoXia

The title of "Xiaoxia(晓霞)" comes from the heroine Xiaoxia in "Spring Dream"(春梦), a collection of short stories with a prose culture tendency by writer Zhong Acheng(钟阿城), "Bian Di Feng Liu"(遍地风流). This piece "Xiaoxia" combines the content of the novel to express how the two protagonists An Zhi and Xiaoxia deal with their personal emotions, how they face their childhood feelings, and how they rise and fall in the current of the times in an era that is completely different from today's. It’s a story about separation .

Wandering Around The Hall Of the Mountain King

Nowadays, AI has begun to demonstrate its significant impact on various aspects of human life, including music composition. In Logic Pro, I input the mode, chords, tempo, and style as commands to the software, and in an instant, it generated a segment of music with a lively texture based on the commands I provided. Within this segment, I extracted the notes C, ♭D, F, and ♭G, which were assigned by AI to the melody line, as the core of the first half of the piece, while the soul of the second half of the composition is derived from the melody of the ancient Guqin piece "Three Stanzas of Plum-blossoms ." Of course, both elements have evolved within this piece to the point where they are barely recognizable, even intersecting with each other.
People are accustomed to categorizing established music into certain styles. As a young composer, which path do I wish to follow? After composing this piece, I recalled the work "《杳杳寒山道》( yao yao han shan dao )" by the Tang Dynasty poet-monk Han Shan, which I had come across elsewhere: "The remote path of Cold Mountain, the desolate banks of a cold brook."During my creative process, I am essentially alone. Utter silence surrounds me. Although sometimes troubles and entanglements assail me like wind and snow, I can immerse myself in the exploration of sound, temporarily forgetting everything else around me. In this way, I am walking on my own path.In this way, I am walking on my own remote path of Cold Mountain. This path is characterized by uncertainty and is temporarily difficult to "locate" like a place on a map, hence the English name is SOMEWHERE BETWEEN.

朝暾 (zhāo tūn) 形容初升的太陽，陽光明亮溫暖，亦指早晨的陽光。當朝暾遇上暗夜中的月，兩個迥然不同的意象在曲中碰撞，如同我們每個個體，都有著複雜且矛盾的內心，無論何時何地，都在飄渺和具體之中掙扎著走下去。
Zhaotun (zhāo tūn) is a word for describing the rising sun. The sunlight is bright and warm and it refers also to the morning sun. The two completely different images, Zhaotun and the moon in the dark night, collide in the sound of this ensemble piece. Just like each of us, we all have a complex and contradictory mind. No matter when and where we are, we are struggling to move forward with the ethereal and concrete world.
