When You Speak

There’s a medieval stone tower
built in  thirteen forty eight
where she told me I should meet her
and she begged me “Don’t be late!”
It was used for spotting fires
back in thirteen-seventeen
but the passionate flames 
that we both shared
was a heat it had not seen.
I was labeled as a foreigner
just a fool in Istanbul
who had fallen for this Turkish gal
but her father had strict rules
Plus she also had six brothers
who were built like Huge bronzed Gods
and she told me they had found our plan 
from my texts on her I-pod
But I chose to face the odds
even though her father had arranged
a marriage she despised and 
I’d find my face all rearranged
if I met up with these guys
In a town  that they call Galata
sneaking like a common thief
to steal away with  the girl I loved
against her families beliefs.
Down alleyways at the crack of dawn
with just minutes to spare
then suddenly I came Upon
her brothers standing there
They must have seen my latest text
that I”d sent her on her phone
but I had set a backup plan
and I was not alone
Imagine  all their great dismay
when six of my best friends
all lean and mean and ex-Marines
came walking round the bend.
Cause I had an appointment
with no time or them to bash me
so I left them to the devil dogs 
and  jumped into a taxi.
I had two tickets pre-reserved
for an airport quite near by
so I had the cab go quick and nab
my girlfriend on the fly
Her passport was in order
thanks to  smugglers that I knew
So we settled in to first class seats
and flew off into the blue.
Love can’t be stopped by any rules
new or antiquidated
A show of faith and force will do
or usew a trick if you need mated
Thus happily ever after
we both shared our wedded life
and she wrote her mother to comfort her
saying she was a joyous wife.
The morale of my story is
Marry  only who you want to
don’t let  family or friends dare sway you
their decisions just might haunt you
