Frequency Divide

"Fleeing Objects Ahead" started with a new synthesizer patch that sounds a bit like 1999 by Prince and morphed into something completely different. Bass is provided by the NS Chapman Stick along with some "guitar" lines. The piano comes in for the middle section along with an expressive vibe part played on the Expressive E Osmose keyboard.

This track was inspired by a new guitar and wanting to record a "band" song with lyrics. Until I can find someone who can sing (not me!), here is an instrumental version! The rhythm guitar tracks were recorded first and written concurrently with the lyrics. Drums, NS Stick, and organ were added next. I experimented with lead synth sounds and a lead guitar track which was added last after experimenting with electric violin.

This piece is a tribute to the sound and spirit of *Weather Report*, blending acoustic and electronic textures through modern performance tools.

The fretless bass part was performed on a LinnStrument, triggering a fretless bass sound from the Spectrasonics Trilian library. Drums were played on a Zendrum, using the Jazz SDX library from Toontrack to provide a responsive and natural drum feel.

Electric piano was added using UAD Electra 88 Vintage Keyboard, followed by an alto saxophone part performed on LinnStrument using Audio Modeling’s physically modeled instrument and LinnStrument controlling the GForce OB-X virtual synthesizer.
