J101 - BNJMN - Skur EP (Sept 28, 2015)

After a first EP from BNJMN, new Creme Organization label off shoot Jericho One now serves up a second release, this time from NOFACE. This is a moniker of Mella Dee, a producer who in the last few years has released rough house tracks on labels like Lobster Boy, Digital Soundboy and Omena. Here he offers three new pieces that show a passion for high energy, lo­fi tracks with inventive grooves.
‘Saturate’ is littered with old school signifiers but is essential a brutal, high power techno banger with immovable kick drums, slithering percussive patterns and fiery vocal ad libs that imbue the track with a sense of afro­futurism. ‘Polar’ is a similarly physical track with massive, monstrous kicks, reverberating synth lines and a barreling sense of groove that washes over you like a braking wave. Finally, ‘Warrior Charge’ is another physical and functional cut with robust drums, oversized hi hats and woodpecker like hook that demands you stomp and head bang from start to finish.

The vinyl debut of both ÈBONY and 'R'. Creme Organization's Jericho One label continues to set a fine agenda with its fifth EP, this time from DJ Plant Texture aka Dona Basile, who also releases as Dona and Given. This is only his second EP under this alias, and is one that again marries breakbeats, techno and electro into electrifying new forms. 

Things kick off with 'Maybe Sometimes', three minutes of brutal old school rave. 'Maybe Sometimes (2_3 Psymono Mix)' is then a heavily filtered and stripped back version of the same tune that is brilliantly weird and otherworldly. 'Lello From SDA' then picks up the pace once more with reversed stabs, slamming drums and rubbery bass all cut up with yelping vocals and dusty breaks that take you right back to the early 90s. 

On the flip, 'Gargantuans' is on a deeper and more trippy old school flex with bright pads and gurgling bass taking you higher, then 'Cyclone (Tribute To The 90's)' is just that with its frenzied drums, filters and euphoric breakdowns all run through with Street Fighter samples. 'D_One' then ends the trip with a bit of ambient electronics, with odd sine waves and sharp sound designs placing you in an unhinged world.

J105 - DJ Plant Texture - Cyclone EP (www.globaldarkness.com)

Jericho One is kicking off 2017 with this new 12" from artist Ken Finger, a collaboration between Mickey Pearce (Swamp 81) and Brackles. It features four tracks and again marks out this Creme Organization off shoot as a no-nonsense house label that is full of surprises. 

Thanks For Those is a stop start brew of echoing cowbells, pitched up vocals and warped synths that are tied to a busted beat. It sounds like little else and is sure to kick start any party. Bury the Beds is a harder affair, with blasted drums and sci-fi electronics, whirring machine sounds and uncontrolled snares and hits all slapping you about the face. On the flip, Tongues Under A Hammer slows the tempo. Scattered claps, alien lifeforms and sub heavy bass all do a slow and unpredictable dance and you will do the same. Last of all, From Telly to Belly plays with muffled vocals, drilling bass screws and metallic hits and sounds like an underground trap tune reimagined for freaky dance floors. This is a hard to categorise EP that is full of fascinating twists and turns.

The Jericho One project (also know round the office as Ground Zero) was called into existence to expand the bandwidth of Creme Organization with a different aestethic into a more ominous, techno, breakbeat, bass and dare we say "bigroom" oriented area without diluting the already overcrowded bunks of the Mothership any further. This is not an extension of R-Zone, there is no anonimity, even though there might be an overlap in sounds somewhere. This is no Throwback or Rave revivalism either. We aim to be firmly rooted in the now, with modern and up to date productions. But even then there is no escaping Electronic music's staggering heritage. We don't pretend to be original, instead we live in a world of combinations, re-interpretations ands re- imaginings. And at the risk of offending Extreme Noise Terror: We're only in it for the music. So if that's your thing, you are more than welcome to join us on another adventure.
