Building layer upon layer, songs evolve with a fragile intensity. Vocal melodies are draped over string and guitar arrangements and end up soaring over them, at the same time lending a hook instantly recognisable as Message To Bears and blending harmoniously with the arrangement. 

The overall result of Maps is something that is both startling and familiar. You are drawn in, given a map if you will, and invited on a musical journey that nods to Message to Bears' past but also leads to the future.'

I've often tried creating an ecstatic wave journey without any lyric heavy songs. It never ends up happening. I just love using songs with lyrics both in english and other languages too much. But for this mix I will restrict myself to only songs that have instrumentals, or I will cut out any lyrics. I'm curious how it might land for our dance community and the creative direction it might take me on. 

I'm always trying to evolve and adapt my craft as a music weaver, and an easy way to do that is to impose restrictions that force me into uncomfortable and uncharted territories. If you'd like to journey into such an exploration, I invite you to come to this dance. 

The invitation there for you as a dancer, will be to explore the messages you find in music that is devoid of words. And also, the invitation is to explore how creative restrictions can fuel your creativity and dance expression.

On their first album in six years, ISAN once more weave together electronic soundscapes, delicate rhythms and the occasional odd sound into a pulsating, ever-morphing whole. Glass Bird Movement is Antony Ryan and Robin Saville’s eighth studio album since they have started the project two decades ago. Exchanging ideas between England and Denmark, where Ryan currently resides, ISAN have crafted an album which is reminiscent of heyday Boards Of Canada productions, the friendlier ventures of Aphex Twin or the most focused moments of Ulrich Schnauss, if you will. However, this album (as well their impressive back catalogue, as subtle it may seem) displays a strong signature. ISAN constantly move forwards without leaving their respective studios. And why should they - it’s warm and dry in there and the kettle is always boiling.
