Catalogue Number PP018 has been work in progress for quite a while now. Wind-s originally appeared in a slightly different version as part of the soundtrack to one of Rohtheaters` plays. The track features all the typical Obalski elements we have grown so fond of in the past. Dreamy pads and odd melodies create the sort of ambient that carries you away somewhere else (Bravo!). We decided that it would be interesting to hear other artists take their turn on the material. The Japanese duo Mascaras (Chida & 5ive) transformed Wind-s in an atmospheric drum workout. Fantastically incorporating the breezy synth elements of the original into their flow of percussion. Press play – Lift off. The B-Side gives space to Nick Höppner‘s epic Techno groove. Released on Phantasy October 7th, 'Black Crow' is the third single to be taken from the album. Part American Gothic, part future movie soundtrack, it’s a song of haunting beauty. Holly Miranda's vocal glides across reflective strings and delicate crystalline snippets of sound, resulting in an epic torch song lament. It’s backed with White Crow, Erol Alkan's mighty extended reworking of the song, placing it in spacious widescreen, where you can hear for miles.

Today is the closest Neptune will be to Earth this year, and being that Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun, mysteriously lodging in the outskirts of our solar system, close is not really...close. Today Earth passes between Neptune and the sun and tomorrow, September 7, Neptune will reach opposition, opposite the sun in Earth’s sky. This means that Neptune should be the brightest planet in our sky, however, at opposition Neptune still lies 29 times farther away from Earth than Earth lies from our sun. 

Perhaps it’s because the dark, watery depths of Neptune are so untouchable that it is such a catalyst for creativity. I’ve had my heart set on presenting something extra special on this date for almost a year now, and I could not be happier or more honored to present what is destined to go down as one of the most lethal electro mixes of the year.

RED LIGHT DISTRICT -  MEKKA RE-IMAGE

My first real introduction to Electro/Hip Hop was with the release of Street Sounds Electro 1 and the second track on this compilation was Jam On Revenge (The Wikki Wikki Song) by Newcleus. The Jam On Revenge album was on heavy rotation throughout my youth and Automan was one of my favourite trax from the album. I had the privilege some years ago of remixing "Teknology" from their second album "Space Is The Place" with Si Brown (Dexorcist) under our Gods Of Technology moniker which was recently released on vinyl. Here is my retuning of Automan using a few parts from the original Dub Mix.
