Subreal is pleased to announce its sixth release, War Bride (SR006) from label co-founder Amazondotcom. 


Amazondotcom returns from a hiatus with a new 5-track EP, full of sonic and emotional dimensionality. In this work, she continues her ongoing investigations into twisting rhythms, deep sub-bass, heavy percussion, and the intertwining of organic and synthetic sound design. 


According to the producer, she worked with longer, but often simpler, loops to fill repetitive time with variation, which was reflective of her own personal time during production. She began these tracks with the “simple idea that small feelings and perceptions can scatter and morph across time, taking on their own narratives and life forces. This can happen melodically, rhythmically, in dance, and in personal and/or political experiences.” 


Amazondotcom is a music producer based in Los Angeles and one of the founders of electronic music label Subreal. Her first solo EP, Mirror River, was released in 2019.

A haunting cinematic mix from Oakland-based artist Sueuga. 

Making their production debut back in 2019 on Terror Negro Records under the Sueuga Kamau moniker, Sueuga is now a solo venture by Manolis Sueuga. Using their music to explore their Afro-Latinx heritage, Sueuga's releases often draw from historical moments, with their 1973 EP on Argentinian label Hiedrah Club de Baile looking back to the title year and the more recent release ‘Como El Viento, Vuelve' on Uruguayan label Salviatek, Sueuga attempts to explore their Native American ancestry, that of the Tohono O’odham, a people of both northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. Out today is a remix EP for this release with the likes of Aggromance, TAYHANA, EL PLVYBXY, Only Now and LTAV reimagining the tracks. 

In the mix for us, Sueuga brings that storytelling approach weaving through different moods with the use of piercing, boisterous industrial soundscapes and contrasting classical quiet moments. It’s an art in tension building, bringing people to their peak before giving them a moment to relish in the stillness and in the end reflect upon their experience.

"BirdNET" es el primer release del proyecto musical de Antonia Mosso aka paltamango. Un relato de seis tracks y un interludio componen esta producción realizada desde el puerto. En su producción nos comparte armonías nostálgicas y samples de aves marinas que grabó durante el verano en una caleta cercana. Junto a la sonoridad de sus sintes predilectos, paltamango nos presenta un larga duración lleno de texturas y pasajes inspirados en el mar vivo y una ciudad oxidada por sal y humedad.

Un suave pasaje por géneros como el minimal, el electro y a veces un poco de dembow, BirdNET es la conclusión de un largo camino de exploración por diferentes sonoridades en la música electrónica y alude también a una fascinación personal inexplicable por las aves. Ambientes sobre el subir escaleras eternas, el olor a mar y los barcos que llegan a puerto. Recolección de cochayuyos y arena en los zapatos. Oda al misterio en la costa y las gaviotas.

El álbum finaliza con un remix realizado por syntrovert, desde el interior de la quinta región. Esta versión más clubera de 557 just in time, acelera los bpm originales recapitulando la esencia lúgubre de BirdNET. Un break beat final para este viaje en el tiempo.

El arte fue realizado por mariapepinos. En una técnica mixta de puntillismo y pixeles se recrean algunos de nuestrxs amigxs marinxs favoritos y el castillo abandonado que inspiró gran parte del disco.
