This was so much fun!

Jerusalem: Emerson Lake and Palmer Cover

Piano realization of a folk song I and some fellow students/professors learned while spending time in Qufu, China, which is the home of Confucius. We learned this and other folk songs in the home of a professor of music at Qufu Normal University. The vocal techniques this woman used were incredible and unlike anything done in traditional classical singing, or anything else we hear in America, really.

I had the tune memorized and made an accompaniment to it. I might try this again with different accompanying chords, because the way this ended up being recorded was slightly different than I originally rehearsed. Improvisation is a good time.

Chinese Folk Song

This is a recording done in Daves basement the other day for the Namm show next week. We recorded it on a Zoom HN4 handheld recorder, and we had to be quiet because Daves roommate was sleeping. Kat Epple, flute, is playing with us at the Namm show and I'm thrilled about that. Anyways... here's where rehearsals for the quiet project are at. Enjoy! Dev.
