Riding the wave shaped these last 18 months by their Continental imprint and a flock of standout releases (singles by Reflex, RÜFÜS, Shindu, Cyclist, Adamski…) JBAG aka Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Gorgerino are finally unleashing their tropical gem ‘Mogadisco’ on September 23rd.

The ace video designed and directed by Brazil’s Caio Zini has been posted all summer on some of the best blogs out there after the track was included on Kitsuné Soleil 2, Bouthier’s last dj mix in collaboration with soulmate-dj Gildas Loaec - boss of the renowned Parisian brand. Causing a bit of a steer ‘Mogadisco’ is Kitsuné Soleil 2’s biggest single download seller.

After a long stretch of remixes for the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Ladyhawke, S-Express, Gigamesh, Punks Jump Up, Kamp!, Jupiter… the London-based DJs/producers have completed their second single and what a party starter it is. Filled with exotic marimbas, carnival steel-drums and an infectious ‘Pop-Corn’-flavoured synth lead, ‘Mogadisco’ is an exhilarating yet almost spiritual ode to hedonism that implores you to loosen up and enjoy the moment.

Bouthier’s experience at rocking dancefloors with personal and inspired sets, always looking for exciting new artists whilst also digging the past (he was resident dj of east London’s infamous BoomBox), has made him a reliable, trustworthy spinner regularly linked to Kitsuné; not forgetting his long-running relationships with designer Vivienne Westwood and others, crafting esoteric soundtracks for the catwalk as well as providing fun at fashion week parties. On the other hand Italian ex-pat Gorgerino’s musical pedigree is impressive, the classically trained musician turned skilled producer is as comfortable penning profound ear-catching melodies as he is riding the mixing desk with fervour. The pair like to think they make Balearic pop incorporating their many influences. JBAG is now starting to perform together live dj sets with keyboard and FX.

On the remix front Milan’s Fare Soldi provide one of their trademark funky chuggers just on the right side of sanity. Berlin’s Pharaoh Black Magic goes all mystic and elegiac while keeping the pumping factor high. Last, Athens’ latest prodigal son ELIOT delivers a deliciously 90s rewrite that’s actually not that tongue-in-cheek.

On the trail of Bleu Toucan’s wonderful ‘Imagine’ EP, Continental new release comes this time courtesy of its very own shipmasters JBAG AKA Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Gorgerino. For the occasion the London-based Franco-Italian duo has teamed up with Chibi, the singer of smart, stylish electronic Belgian duo Shindu, for ‘Everybody (Come On)’, an enticing rallying call for all to get together and sweat on the dancefloor.

Two originals to play with, a full vocal version and a stripped down dub locked to a deep bassline and hypnotic organs bouncing off tribal beats, whilst Emerald & Doreen’s mysterious Headpocket and Athens’ hot blood Digital Riot give ‘Everybody (Come On)’ their own personal spin.

Pioneer of the French house/rave scene with late brother Tom, Jerry Bouthier is part of the Kitsuné family, sound designer of Vivienne Westwood and other fashion labels as well as Continental records driving force (leading a global cast of rising talents such as Reflex, Shindu, Bleu Toucan, Cyclist, Mannequine, Mjolnir, Boys Get Hurt…).
A classically trained virtuoso who started piano at 5 and studied harmony at 12, Andrea Gorgerino boasts unparalleled musicality, making him a prodigious force in the studio and an in-demand engineer/producer.

Bonding in the studio like children and their music toys over a mutual passion for resonating emotions on the dancefloor, Jerry and Andrea combine their many influences (indie, disco, house, electro, italo, new-wave…) obsessively crafting inspirited melodies and funked-up grooves all tied up by a fondness for energy, musicianship and attention to detail.

The two were resident djs at east London’s infamous BoomBox, the night which brought back imaginative, unpretentious dressing up in clubs, and have deejayed at some of fashion’s most extravagant parties (Sonia Rykiel for H&M and 40th birthday, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Gareth Pugh, Acne, Kitsuné, Colette, Le Baron…).

Continental’s last release, JBAG ‘Everybody (Come On)’ [feat Shindu], is still burning dancefloors that here comes its summery follow-up: the discotastic ‘Fastlane’ by French dons Romuald & Madji’k AKA The Spimes.

Atrue soul man and a gentleman, not far off being a living legend, Romuald has been an ACTIVE singer/songwriter/producer on the Parisian scene for well over a decade, not mentioning several NYC escapades that led him to develop songs for 50 Cent, Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson… and heavyweight hitmakers The Clutch. Romuald co-wrote and featured on many projects, from The Paradise’s French Touch classic ‘In Love With You’ with Alan Braxe, to Ernest St Laurent, Mr Gonzo… He even shyly kicked off a solo career in the very early days of Kitsuné.
Madji’k, the musician/composer from down south (Toulouse), is another familiar virtuoso born in Funky Town. After catching the rave bug in the 90s, he STARTED to write tracks and hasn’t stopped producing since, having released singles on Diamond Traxx, 20,000 ST, Fantômas, Nervous, Henry Street, Fogbank, Deeptown, Tallhouse…

The two comperes, under their The Spimes moniker, were first spotted in 2013 when they JOINED forces with Alan Braxe and released the ‘Time Machine’ EP together (which held on the flip rare emotional gem ‘One More Chance’). 
Here they’re at it again with ‘Fastlane’, a brand new addictive disco cut lifted straight outta NY’s Studio 54 and of COURSE led by Romuald’s golden voice and luxurious vocal arrangements (he performs all vocal parts).
In the original version, the pair gets a trusted seal of approval from featured Atlanta rapper Stanza and all falls into place for these two Frenchies forever enamored with America’s urban sounds.

On the remix tip, Continental’s own JBAG deliver the kind of makeover the radio-friendly original was crying out for (and a new bassline), just like back in the days of the Extended Mix. London-based funkerman Get To Know takes a dubbed out boogie path PEPPERED by freestyle guitars. To conclude the EP, France’s latest electronic girl/boy duo Rise & Fool opts for a sexy deep house dish with Gallic toping.

Inspired by the soundtracks I produce for the fashion world, the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Kitsuné etc, the Heart & Soul mixes focus on heart-melting melodies and fragile, feminine, emotions.
These evocative soundtracks, almost psychedelic, fairytale-like at times, favour positive vibes and human feelings in one continuous trippy haze, which takes enchanting cinematic routes, feeling like a movie or book to listen to.
The music speak for itself and entice sensual sensations to lose yourself in, fall in love to and groove to late at night as Heart & Soul is still about dancing, perfect for home parties with loved one(s) but also for sport and work.

On the side of my dj mixes for Kitsuné, Emerald & Doreen etc, I have developed a personal blend of mixtapes dedicated to femininity and sensuality. A mood inspired by producing fashion shows soundtracks linked to the will of creating intimate, feelgood mixes ideal to chill and relax with your loved one(s).
Danceable but also highly musical, melodic and evocative, the Heart & Soul mixes aim at taking you on a voluptuous and hedonistic trip. I believe that when life wears you out, music is the antidote that keeps you in high spirits. These mixes are like my messages of love and hope to the world.
Every few months I gather my best findings, expressive compositions that communicate positive, convincing, enthralling emotions as well as tenderness and fragility.
The human element plays an important role: vocals, real instruments, orchestral arrangements… all contribute to ecstatic moods unraveling passionate stories to lose yourself into like a book or a film to listen to. Perfect to chillax, train or work even.

It’s summertime! and French label extraordinaire Kitsuné is celebrating the best time of year with a solar mixed cd out July the 4th 2012.

Packed with sun-drenched vibes to die for, ‘Kitsuné Soleil’ is very much a musical invitation to lazy about, relax by the pool with a cocktail in hand and enjoy the moment thanks to a judicious selection of hot new tunes as only Kitsuné comes up with. Some of them forthcoming on the prestigious Parisian imprint (Citizens!, Moonlight Matters, Hey Today, Gigamesh, Housse de Racket, RAC, Plastic Plates, Rufus), some of them simply right for this gorgeous mix (Metronomy, M83, Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Rapture, Friendly Fires, Adamski, Jupiter). Inspired by carefree holidays, hedonist nights out and sunkissed romance this fiery yet sensuous soundtrack is ideal to watch the sun go down on the beach or even to paraglide over wild mountains.

Conceived and mixed by Kitsuné’s boss Gildas Loaec and longtime collaborator Jerry Bouthier, the French dj/producer relocated in London who was behind the ‘Kitsuné BoomBox’ and ‘Kitsuné Ponyste’p cd mixes, ‘Kitsuné Soleil’ is a 1h mixtape you can either party with or chill to. Gildas, who never fails to rock the party and put it on its knees, provided his renowned flair and expertise in order to secure some exciting new sounds, whereas Jerry, Vivienne Westwood’s sound designer and half of balearic duo JBAG, brings his stylish, uplifting vision to the mix. And once again Kitsuné sets the tone, covering indie-dance, quirky pop, electrodisco and more that 2012 has to offer. A classy, danceable mood that’s also fun and sexy.
The association of Gildas the fox (for those who still wonder Kitsuné means fox in Japanese) and Jerry the mouse (who used to dj with his brother Tom R.I.P.) is inevitably a rewarding pun, strong of their respective experience and solid tastes these two know a thing or two about what makes people tick on the dancefloor or in the comfort of their home.

1. Moon Boots ft Violetness ‘Running From’ 
“Not much is known of Moon Boots, yet after the success of his Scritti Politti-sampling ‘Aretha’ he’s become a producer to watch. The sultry ‘Running From’ - a carefree ode to happiness? - perfectly kicks off this breezy mix.’

2. Citizens! ‘Reptile (Goldroom remix)’
 “Kitsuné’s latest protégés Citizens! are another striking discovery. Smart and funny these Londoners make ambitious indie music that’s ready to take on the world. It’s energizing to come across a young bunch that has the guts to write imaginative pop music, and who does it with soul and integrity.”

3. Pharaoh Black Music ft Ghosttape 'Hermes'
 “Originally hailing from Basel, Switzerland, and now set up in Berlin, this promising duo combines indie and balearic in one enchanted spell. Songs you can dance to and at the same time feel for or get touched by, a precious balance many aim at but few successfully manage.”

 “It’s already been a few singles since Jupiter’s entered our lives and what a nice difference it’s made. Amélie’s mousey vocals are simply to cute to ignore. A.N.D.Y. aka ex-Mustang Andy Faisca does wonders with their new single and turns it into an unstoppable anthem.”

“After Europe and Japan, Kitsuné is now exploring the USA’s hottest music scenes and hooking up with some of the best talents out there (as seen on the recent Kitsuné America compilation).
