I started using Ableton 11 Intro and I'm gonna send some of the stuff I make here. With the help of some tutorials I messed around with percussion for the first time and had some fun with this.

song I'm working on and having some fun with, some progress made. Kinda giving up on the brass and string quartet for now lol cause they just sound off to me so I wanted to try and make something that I've always loved, an upbeat kinda techno song (if you could call it that)

Something Upbeat Wip

Something I love to do when I'm bored and feel like being productive but not willing to put a lot of time and effort into anything is improvising. Just messing around on my keyboard until I find a key I like and then playing random stuff and patterns with my hands until I play a tune that sounds neat, then I try and play off of that tune and hope for the best. haven't done that in a while but figured I might as well and this one was quite nice.

I had to edit some of the timing of the notes and redo the ending so it's not a truly authentic improv but it don't matter in the end

Get Along

I'm so grateful for such nice songs like Kaleidoscope by A Great Big World cause it got me feeling really pumped up and I felt like doing some upbeat improv. I'm in a really good mood and honestly don't care about the little mistakes I made in this, if anything you get to hear what it's like making these and how I make changes on the fly.

I've been wanting to make an improvisation inspired by The Score for a while now and while I was trying I accidentally came up with some tune that wasn't like The Score but I decided to keep building off of it. Not an improv but maybe I'll make more of it some time. I could even change some things slightly to make it sound more like what it was inspired by.

Back Home

It's 1 am, I have to wake up in 5 hours, I finally got spitfire audio to work on ableton and I used the soft piano from LABS and 1 take to make this so I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed finally getting this to work.

Soft Beginnings

well it's 1 am again, I started messing around with spitfire LABS and picked some instruments to start making some ambient sounding thing. As I was making it I started getting minecraft vibes from it, and when I went to name it I thought of the Far Lands. They've always interested me with how they look and how it wasn't something intentionally designed to be in the game, They've been patched out for a while but in the videos I see of them they look so ominous and as there is no dedicated theme that plays in that headcanon biome of mine why not give it one.

The Far Lands

Been super busy lately, not much time to do anything I want but adulting calls. Hopefully soon I'll have more time to do things I wanna do but until then have this. I tried to play along with a metronome to practice being at a consistent speed. The left hand is pretty obviously what it is to keep following the metronome easier.

In That Moment

I'm super happy with how this turned out, I've been wanting to make an edgier improv again for a while now. I definitely wanna make more of these cause they're really fun.

Wavering Tension

This is like 4-5 improvs combined as I lost track mid recording a few times and went back to re record and continue from the end of the last recording. With there being a few parts that sound completely different from one another and I was trying to come up with a name, they reminded me of different memories I had as a kid, so I came up with the general name; Nostalgia, but with something more as well. So here's a rough improv(s) for A Past Not Forgotten

A Past Not Forgotten (Nostalgia)

What started as an improv with a keyboard turned into me adding some sounds and stuff to make this come across more chill. I definitely felt myself taking inspiration from Vexento as a good amount of his songs have background noise/sounds that usually don't work in songs but it helps the whole thing just feel so soothing and at home. That plus the sound from LABS I used having some train cart sounds it reminded me of travelling and going back home after a day of work, thus the name of this piece.

Inspired By Carry Me Home Wip V2

I recently came back home from a 2 week adventure with a bunch of my friends and it was all I could really ask for. I had such a great time and I'm so thankful for all the blessings in my life. As said in "Will I see you again" these kinds of improvs are named somewhat cheesily so I figured in more years to come we'll all look back at these times as if it was our childhood even though we were in our 20s. Anything can feel like it was forever ago when you're old enough so don't take what you have for granted.

Naive Times

One day I started recording myself improvising on my church's piano and post the videos on some discord servers and I thought this night to check in the main discord server I post em in for the first one and it turns out that was last year yesterday (I checked it before 12am hit so it'll show as 2 days but that's not important). So to celebrate (and cause I've actually been wanting to do this for a while but this is just a great reason to) I'm gonna start gradually posting the audio and videos of these recordings on Soundcloud and Youtube respectively (for youtube they're gonna be under a specific album name ig lol it's heavily inspired by something 4everfreebrony does and I think it'll be fun).

oh if you're wondering about the name it translates to "Every Week" in Serbo-Croatian (or any general slavic dialect). This all started cause I sat down on the chair at the piano and the melody of a very nostalgic gospel song came to mind, I didn't remember it's name but i remembered the melody and eventually figured out the chord progression (or one that worked). My brother just recently helped find the og recording he had of it and we found out the name of the song was "Svakog Dana" which translates to "Every Day" and seeing as I started recording and posting these nearly every week I figured this was a fun name for the first one of these.
I had a lot of fun playing around with it and improvising random stuff so after some more messing around I recorded myself playing (with a very bad angle lmao I promise the angle gets better in the next few [although you won't be able to even see the angles unless you check them out on youtube haha now you have to {here it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDzDR7IkrHU}]) and when I was happy with it I posted it and one other video to a discord server and that was how it started (thank you Syl you're truly the most majestic of us all).

Svakog Sedmica

This is slightly inspired by another Christian song called "Pass it On". I was messing around with the tune of that song and a part of the main riff of this is taken from it. Very nice song that is.
I ended up falling asleep with this on repeat while I was trying to come up with a name for it, woke up with sore feet cause of the position they were in, and still had nothing. So this'll do I think, enjoy.

Go To Bed Already

So I started watching an anime called "My Happy Marriage" and it's kinda sad but it's also super wholesome and uplifting and I love it. I'm 5 episodes in rn (crying that I have to wait until the 9th for the next) and I really felt like making something because of it so here's that. 

I did the initial recording with a soundfont that was really background sounding and quiet, I wondered what it'd sound like if layered more pianos over it so i pasted the midis on another quiet but louder piano, and a louder more impactful sounding piano. I think it sounds pretty neat and I'm definitely gonna do more of this in the future cause it was fun to experiment with how it sounded.

Thought I uploaded this a while ago but I guess I didn't. Inspired by the style of songs a friend of mine does. It's kinda edgy but I like it, very emotional and hopefully it makes you feel things. I sure tried to while playing it
