PETER VS SHADOW VS HOOK

This is a piece I wrote for EarCandyDigital.com. Ear Candy Digital is a company that licenses royalty free music to photographers to help market their online galleries. Ear Candy asked me to write something with a latin feel, so with a spare 2 hours I whipped this up. Inspired by what I vaguely remember from The Birdcage soundtrack and Dexter, I present Caliente.


Caliente

I was 5 years old when I first sat down at a piano. The first thing I ever learned to play was a simple C major scale. On a piano, this is the easiest scale to play for a young child, as it is made up of only the white keys. I didn't know why, but I liked the way it sounded when you played each note once up the scale, then back down again, finally resolving where you started, on C.

As a creative exercise, I wanted to challenge myself to turn a simple pass up and down the scale of C into a more emotional piece of music using harmony, and arpeggiation.

I further challenged myself to arrange accompanying orchestration. Given the season, I opted for a holiday feel.

Logic Pro 9, various sample-based virtual instruments, tetrahydrocannabinol, and lisdexamfetamine.

just got some new instrument samples I wanted to test out. been messing around with this little for a bit.

HAUNTED

i set out to give the half dead bonehead a voice. tried out a vocoder on an old song that was collecting dust.

Creatures was a band formed from the remaining members of Marisolyterra. Creatures wrote and recorded one song before disbanding. This is that song. It was a lot of fun working with them. As you can hear, it really sucks that they broke up.
