Who exactly is to blame for all the things that go wrong with government service delivery? The answer? Siri Kali!

Siri Kali! (translated from Kiswahili to mean 'A huge secret')is a play on the word Serikali - which means government (again in Kiswahili.)The song is comprised of excerpts from various hallmark phrases in Kenya's current political history, focusing on the relationship between the government and the people it serves - its complexity and duplicity.

Samo in is a Kenyan word that originates from a "corrupted" language called Sheng, which is essentially a mixture of English, Kiswahili and other words and phrases from the 42 tribal languages found in Kenya.  

Samoh means "Thing". It has no definitive meaning. It refers to that or this. It is abstract. It is everything. It is nothing.

How do you define loss? How do you come to terms with a sadness so great it tends your heart into pieces? This piece is a soundtrack for a video montage of the same name. And helps us better understand and come to terms with grief.

There are no drums, only voices as instruments and rhythm. As the men get closer, the volume of their chants rise, the intensity of their movement increases, converging into steady rhythm. Up, bend, forward. Up, bend, forward. A human pulse, a human beat that reaches into one’s bones even as it traverses the open air.

As the men approach the crowd inside the circle of the corral, young women launch into song. Two men, now in the centre of the circle, jump straight up, each time higher than before. As energy flows into and through the corral, the men circle back, offering their own chant in return, a sort of call and response, their voices growing in volume and pitch. This is the essence of the signature Maasai adamu, or jumping dance.

Ouroboros signifies the persistence of African culture and tradition, it is a celebration of our becoming, of our evolution and our ability to not just survive and flourish even in times of adversity.
