A recording taken from a rehearsal last week. This is a take on 'I Can Hear Music' which is one of my all time  favourite songs! Featuring Charlie Webster on cajon, Michael Webster on lead guitar, John Keane on rhythm guitar and Andy Grayman on bass guitar. All of us were sat in a circle playing this with the recording taken on my phone.

Jessica Craig – I Won't Forget EP

Split between Coventry and Manchester, pop and blues, there is always conflict where singer songwriter Jessica Craig is concerned. With a voice that changes, from powerfully loud to delicately soft there is no limit to what 20 year old Jessica can do and this is audibly clear in her debut EP, 'I Won't Forget.' Being the first solo project that Jessica has embarked upon since writing and performing alongside her non-identical twin sister, where she placed in the top ten in the LIPA's 2008 'Make It Break It Awards', the solo material takes quite a different route.  

The EP, recorded at a past music tutor's studio sees the songs that Jessica had written down as an emotional outlet being crafted into the EP you see before you.

Brought up surrounded by musical jam sessions around the house, incorporating family as well as friends and other waifs and strays, Jessica has always been constantly immersed in music. The sounds of Rory Gallagher, Queen, Dusty Springfield all the way through to influences in her own adult life such as Joss Stone and Sia Furler, these influences are definitely felt through the EP.

Compositionally, the songs comprise simple chord structures and with that Jessica adds a bluesy vocal melody to them. Keeping songs simple is the mantra of Jessica's style, letting her undeniably strong voice take centre stage. The lyrics portray this through the choruses of the title track 'I Won't Forget' and 'To Be Alone' where the title of the track is used as the lyrical hook. There is an honesty to each track and a modesty as well, she doesn't need a huge set up or complicated melodic lines to convey emotion. With this in mind, the Wurlitzer and vocals together give a sense of pop with a vintage twang and this is something that sets Jessica apart from your standard commercial pop artist.

I've been trying to improve my guitar playing skills by learning songs only on guitar and I decided to learn this! I love the song and although I haven't done it much justice I hope you enjoy it! Comments and criticisms are accepted!:)

Hello all! This is a cover of 'Earth Angel' originally written by The Penguins. I thought I would cover it as it's a lovely song and also because I now have recording equipment of my own!
