A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square

I hear their footsteps on the ground
And I don’t dare to make a sound
Because its my soul that they want
Not content with what they’ve got
And they wont stop till I am found

I smell their scent upon the air
And I can’t help but stop and stare
The cavalry all dressed in red
With their pawns that run ahead
In none of them a heart to care

Now the hound’s are at my heels
And I’m running for my life
Through the hedges and the fields
And they can’t wait to take a bite
And their masters from on high
Sound the bugle call so clear
But if one of us should die 
Who is more deserving here?

I see the bloodlust in their eyes
So full of glee when they should cry
But they keep preaching what they’re taught
Take a life and they call it sport
But where do they draw the line?

I feel their breath upon my neck
So terrified of what comes next
But I’m too tired now to fight
So I’ll just lay down here and die
Watch from afar as I’m ripped to shreds
