The End

I recorded some ice cubes dropped into different glasses and a mug with a Zoom H1, looped them with SooperLooper, played around with speed and levels thanks to a mapped Xone:K1 controller, and further edited the output and other samples + mixed it all into Audacity.

As always, repetitive and a bit spooky – the mark of someone who doesn't know much! I have to stop using that paulstretch, it always sounds the bloody same :)

Yakhchal (disquiet0366)

I took encym's beautiful track "Quietude" -> https://soundcloud.com/encymlll/quietude-trio-initiate-disquiet0367
... and improvised some acoustic guitar while listening to it, recorded into Qtractor. I then played around with LADSPA/LV2/VST effects on my guitar track, as that's something I want to be more comfortable with. I ended up with this chain: Delayorama (by Steve Harris)  > Freeverb (by CMT) > C* Saturate (by MOD Team) > Harmless (by DISTRHO).
Delayorama allowed to introduce some randomness, and I also used  ~4 automation tracks with the different effects.
I'm really enjoying working with Qtractor: every time I play around with it, I discover something nice about it.

Disquiétude (disquiet0368)

Unfortunately, my through-line didn't branch, but I still had a lot of fun playing with sounds by @sliversounds, @circlingcrows and  @untilledsound.

I modified the original tracks with Audacity, playing with effects, and then used Mixxx to create loops, control levels with a physical controller and add other effects on top. I also had a couple of sections chopped into my MPC to do fast repeats. I put everything together in Qtractor, and I'm pretty happy with how simple and progressive it is. Not sure if that's what Marc had in mind at all!

Disquiet Junto Project 0472: Jam Time (1 of 3)
The Assignment: Record the first third of a trio that others will complete.

Step 1: This week’s Junto project is the first in a sequence intended to invite, encourage, and reward collaboration. You will be recording something with the understanding that it will remain unfinished for the time being. Your part will be done, but more will happen. Read on.

Step 2: The plan is for you to record a short and original piece of music, on any instrumentation of your choice. Conceive it as something that leaves room for something else — other instruments, other people — to join in.

Step 3: Record a short piece of music, roughly two to three minutes in length, as described in Step 2. When done, if possible, pan the audio so that your piece is solely in the left side of the stereo spectrum.
