I wanted to give you something tangible, solid poetry to hold.  Not to make it right, only to let you know.  You left me to tend to my heart, now it’s broken, I’ve fallen apart.  Missing you, kissing you, in my mind.  Dreaming of a love that died as I reach for the paper to dry my eyes.  I don’t remember the last time I felt this worthless.  It’s alright to be alone.  I can make it on my own.  Critical of this secret mess, can’t escape it nonetheless.  It stays with me like an ailment, clouding the visions in my head.  You waltzed in and out of my life, carving the pain in my heart with your knife.  Cutting me down to size and I’m bleeding out replies.  It’s alright to be alone.  I can make it on my own.

Prison

" Sunny " es un estándar de soul jazz escrito por Bobby Hebb en 1963. Es una de las canciones populares más interpretadas y grabadas , con cientos de versiones publicadas y su progresión de acordes que influye en canciones posteriores. BMI califica a "Sunny" en el puesto 25 en sus "100 mejores canciones del siglo". 

Los padres de Hebb, William y Ovalla Hebb, eran ambos músicos ciegos. Hebb y su hermano mayor Harold actuaron como dúo de canto y baile en Nashville , comenzando cuando Bobby tenía tres años y Harold nueve. Hebb actuó en un programa de televisión presentado por el productor de discos de música country Owen Bradley .
Hebb escribió la canción después de que su hermano mayor, Harold, fuera asesinado a puñaladas afuera de un club nocturno de Nashville. Hebb quedó devastado por el evento y muchos críticos dicen que inspiró la letra y la melodía. Según Hebb, simplemente escribió la canción como expresión de su preferencia por un carácter "alegre" sobre un carácter "pésimo" tras el asesinato de su hermano.
