These three colors represent the three stages of initiation. The call, the ordeal, and the return. During the call stage, one is being lured from mundane life into a journey that will forever transform their personality, role in society, and outlook on life. The call is often initially refused, but once one consciously answers the call the journey begins. Secondly, the ordeal. During this phase, one faces many battles within, with others, and through life circumstances that make the person grow. Allies and mentors are found along the way that assist the initiate, provide direction, tools to use, temporary companionship, and hope. Ultimately the initiate faces grand battles, sheds old layers of identity, wins the wealth inside of his own soul, and completes this phase. This stage is about a spiritual awakening. The final stage of initiation is the return. A triumphant initiate returns back from where he came, now armed with teachings, gifts, and services to provide his community. He is now initiated. He is a transformed man and ready to lead in his community from a place of solidity, and inner authority. He is lauded for his maturation and much needed leadership he brings home.
