Seth Troxler’s agenda setting Play It Say It label is back with another massive release, this time coming from a group of Detroit heavyweights. Featuring a lead track from Andy Toth & Billy Love, it is packed with essential remixes from Chuck Daniels, Andrés & Midnite Jackers.

Andy Toth was part of Detroit Grand Pubahs and Billy Love is a singer from Detroit who added vocals to seminal tracks by Underground Resistance. Together they have help their city’s electronic music earn its enviable reputation on the world stage, and here Billy tells a story informed by his time as a male revue dancer at a legendary strip club called Watts Club Mozambique.

The standout original here, which had a low-key release a few years ago, ’Thrillseekers,’ is an off-beat house number with fresh synth stabs and popping drums that come with steamy vocals. It’s future facing and soul infused and is the sort of characterful cut that will mark the highlight of any set.

Up first with the remixes, Sample Recordings main man Chuck Daniels shows off his Detroit credentials with a driving and late night, smooth and seductive take that is filled with warm machine soul. Pre-release this classic Detroit groove has been getting lots of support from Eats Everything, Riva Star and Seth Troxler.

The second sizzling remix comes from Detroit’s Andrés, a key artist on Moodymann’s Mahogany label who has put out three seminal albums as well as many killer jams on his own La Vida. His hip hop indebted style is here in all its glory once more, with loose and rough drums jammed out on an MPC and interwoven with gorgeous jazz chords and a noodling bassline.

Already released and doing lots of damage on worldwide dance floors, the Midnite Jackers remix is nearly eight minutes of rough and ready, attitude riddled house with fat bass, rude vocals and a wonky feel that will add plenty of freakiness to any party. This is a Detroit heavy single featuring some of the Motor City’s finest talents, and is set to be one of the big record of the summer without a doubt.

2018 has been a busy year so far for Ben Rau, after completing tours worldwide, including standout shows in Australia and South America, he has also found time to launch a new label META alongside his increasingly successful INKAL imprint.

After handing over the reins for the first Meta release to promote new talent and give them a platform to thrive in the form of Rhymos' Seizure EP', Ben brings the heat for the label's second offering with his Marauder' EP.A release that stays true to Ben's dancefloor roots,whilst also displaying a techier big room sound primed for larger dancefloors. The title track Marauder' is a technically impressive affair, full of rolling percussion and expert drum programming , tension builds throughout the track via an eerie swelling synth which finally culminate in an epic break that makes use of delayed vocals before the rolling tech-houser concludes with the a groove heavy finale that let's all the elements shine.

The second track from the EP, Phoenix', is another potent dancefloor weapon , led by a pumping acid line that is complimented by ever-evolving synth stab responses. 
The main break of the B-side signals the introduction of a spoken word vocal that gives Phoenix' its name , Ben delivers another stand out track providing the hooky elements which are a strong trademark of Ben's sound.

A monstrous release worthy of the mightiest of collaborations, Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers return to conquer with a lament for our lost dance floors. Those 4am moments extinguished. The silent bass bins. ‘Play In The Dark’ is a track as unhinged as the times. A howl in the night.

The A Side 'Steam Mix’ of 'Play In The Dark' takes no prisoners as it unleashes ominous beats, an incessant groove and Seth’s suitably crazed vocals on lockdown frayed ears. Seth is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive vocalists in electronic music, and it’s great to hear the freaked out drawl haranguing and destabilising listeners all over again. The B Side ’Troxler’s Freak Mix’ is more of a subtle groovier affair with classic house overtones, but make no mistake it’s just as devastating.

Although they have shared many DJ booths and notorious B2B’s over the years, ‘Play In The Dark’ is the guys’ first release together since ‘Space & Time’, their inaugural release for Tuskegee Music way back in 2014 (and later the ad campaign soundtrack for Louis Vuitton x Supreme). For the Bros, this is their debut outing on Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels label, while Seth returns to CR for the first time since the mighty ‘Living The Life’ collaboration with Art Department (March 2011).

This is also Seth Troxler’s first solo studio output for quite some time, but marks the beginning of a return to the action with multiple solo releases primed through ‘21. Meanwhile his Lost Souls of Saturn collaboration with Phil Moffa is nearing completion of a second album, with new music and explorations in augmented reality coming soon.

The Martinez Brothers continue to carve their own unique path. From their Lil Yachty ‘SaintLaurentYSL’ (TMB Edit)and, of course, their anthem ‘Let It Go’ with Louie Vega (recently a Radio 1 B List), to their most recent collaboration with Puerto Rican, reggaeton superstar Rauw Alejandro, Steve and Chris Martinez keep effortlessly navigating the spaces between the underground, Latin and hip hop mainstream.

After his artists defining first EP on Hot Creations, Jey has continued his portfolio with a wealth of releases on Moon Harbour and several more EP’s signed to Hot Creations with others throughout the years on more niche labels such as Kaluki, Leftroom, Material and many more. Jey has set a precedent for himself continually bringing out a sound unlike any other. 

With the support and backing from some of the biggest names in the industry including Jamie Jones, Adam Beyer, Matthias Tanzmann, Patrick Topping, Solardo and many more, Jey has returned to the studio and with several EP’s already in the pipleline, this is set to be a defyning time for his talent.
