Continuing their push for discovering fresh talent, December welcomes the addition of a new name as Northampton-based DJ/producer Kai Rodriguez prepares his biggest release to date with two rhythmic grooves across his ‘Undaground’ EP. 

Leading with rattling percussion, robust kicks and enticing vocal chants, ‘Undaground’ reveals an energetic opening production, while ‘POWR’ welcomes an up-front, no-nonsense production via snaking hats, distorted beats and pulsating basslines.

Kid Moss, Kevin Deep - Coming To La Playa EP [YOIBC001]

Hottrax has long been a go-to label for house heads around the globe, thanks to head honcho Jamie Jones’ legendary tastemaking providing a platform for breakout talents and diverse underground sounds. Following up on its six-part ‘Tripleution’ V/A series from last year, the label now launches a new series that offers a bumper selection of irresistible beats perfect for all hours of the night.
Rising star Emery (CH) opens up the release with 'Keep It Cool', a characterful cut with bristling breaks and piano stabs laced through the mix as clipped vocals and balmy pads bring warmth to the old-school motifs. Kinhaa's 'Metal Elvis' is a steely number where dry hits and twanging synths make for a futuristic groove, complete with a brilliantly melodic bassline and playful horns. Next up, BizZa’s 'Real Dancing' is low down and dirty with a dubby bassline and squelchy acid sounds topped with loose percussion that makes you want to move.
A three-way collab between Marian, Yolanda Be Cool & Fast Eddie means 'Side To Side' is an arresting tribal house jam drawing for funky Afro drum patterns designed to pump the party. Gustaff's 'Caligula' pairs things back with fizzing synth stabs lighting up the bouncing groove. There is a raw filth in the bassline that roams beneath the crisp kicks and hits of Mariano Lunadei's twitchy 'Work That Body' before Mene's 'Cuttin 1000' adopts a high-speed house sound with edgy synths and warped vocals adding plenty of unhinged character for freely late night floors. Rounding out the V/A, Timid Boy & Frankov's 'Holograma' is a shuffling tech house beat fusing vocal fragments and laser-like synths shooting over the smooth, chord-laced grooves.

Sidney Charles' Heavy House Society labels turns up the heat for the summer with a new release from the head honcho himself. His previous release on the label garnered heavyweight support and acclaim from DJs and dance floors alike and his recent remix for powerhouse Ibiza brand, Do Not Sleep, is currently smashing the specialist store charts, and Charles has wasted no time in keeping the output and pressure up. It's quite clear what the prolific Berlin based producer has been up to during lockdown.

For his second release on his label, he has brought in the incredibly talented Black Loops, who is well known for his slick productions on labels such as PIV, Toy Tronics, Gruuv, Pets Recordings and Freerange to name just a few. 

The title track of the EP, Swing Theory, is a delectable cut of minimal deep house. With shuffling hats, skipping beats, a grooving bassline combining with searing pad washes, short plucky chords and lead line, it delivers 7 minutes of groove in its purest form.

The third track, Sin City, is another deep and minimal house cut with intricate and delicately arranged chords, leads and beats, with ambient pads in the background, which stands tall amongst the rest

Jey has set a precedent for himself continually bringing out a sound unlike any other. 

With the support and backing from some of the biggest names in the industry including Jamie Jones, Adam Beyer, Matthias Tanzmann, Patrick Topping, Solardo and many more, Jey has returned to the studio and with several EP’s already in the pipleline, this is set to be a defyning time for his talent.
