Another uncovering arrives from Astral Industries by the name of The Humble Bee. The alias of industrious, multi-talented UK artist Craig Tattersall, The Humble Bee’s ‘A Miscellany For the Quiet Hours’ was the inaugural release on Tattersall’s now discontinued Cotton Goods imprint. This beautifully intimate work resurfaces after more than a decade since its initial release, now available on vinyl for the first time.

Constructed entirely of tape loops, fragile tapestries of forgotten artefacts canter with teetering rhythmic pulses. Melodic counterpoints drift in soft bucolic reverie, as hazy recollections of undefined pasts seep out in blurs of nostalgic colour. The album is imbued with a close tactile quality, lovingly crafted as a result of both manned and unmanned decay experiments. Undeniably tender yet wilfully introspective, something speaks immediately of those magic sonic moments, illuminated by the quiver of late night candlelight.

Christian Hutchinson-Berg (Kite, Yvonne) and Andreas Tilliander (Mokira, TM404) have known each other forever but very rarely collaborated musically. Until now. Here is Wind & Fire with our debut tape WF1. 

Each cassette is a duplicate of the previous one where cassette number 001 is the master, 002 a copy of 001, 003 of 002, 004 of 003 et cetera. 
In this way, every cassette is unique and the sound is slowly degrading, getting more distorted and weird with each new copy. 
A nod to Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting In a Room or perhaps even more to the The Cure cassettes we taped from and to our friends as kids. The cover art is treated the same way.

For this episode of The Ritual Must be Kept Alive, I invited Villa Lontana Records, an experimental and independent record label based in Rome, run by Vittoria Bonifati and Michele Ferrari, which focuses on the production of new sounds, from electroacoustic to sonorous poetry and from electromagnetism to field-recordings. Publishing both archival and unreleased material of the electronic avant-garde and contemporary sound-art scene, the label dedicates special attention to those artists who, although recognised as pioneers, drift in between realms. 

A Cosmic transmission journey set in four non-circumscribed sound spaces in which environmental recordings are mixed with electronic and acoustic pieces. 
Including multiple sound languages and dystopian, experimental musical evolutions generated through the use of the voice, flutes, percussions, synthesisers and computers.

The Ritual Must be Kept Alive w. Villa Lontana  [12.09.2023]

Hello everyone! I was invited to create some presets for Harmonic Bloom by Sonora Cinematic. Harmonic Bloom is a sound design plugin on Kontakt Player. It utilizes the concept of the harmonic series to turn noise into unique and distinctive musical material that can be used in your compositions. I had a lot of fun creating some presets for the new v1.3 free update.

In this recording, I demonstrate some of the presets that I created for Harmonic Bloom. I made a few sequences in Ableton to trigger the patches. Everything you hear is directly from the patch including the effects and panning. I did not EQ the recordings or add any compression. All of the sounds are straight from the source. When you hear a modulation in the sound it's either from my LFO programming or from adjusting the Noise/Pitch ratio. I really enjoyed working with this instrument and have already used it in my music. I hope you enjoy these sounds. Thank you for listening!
