2019 sees Get Physical turn its always pan-global focus towards the shining stars of the emerging Indian dance music scene with a fantastic new 12 track compilation album featuring some of the country’s key contemporary talents. 
This brilliant selection is compiled by Todh Teri, who is behind the acclaimed Deep In India release series and is at the heart of the revival of Indian cinematic sounds, where Bollywood music is reworked for the modern dance floor. When asked about India Gets Physical, he says,” The artists and music I've put together for this project are predominantly electronic, but with just a pinch of India. Clearly steering away from all probable cliches, all of these tracks sound very international but with just a hint of an Indian tone, scale or sound. It is our lil’ nod to the motherland.” 
The exploration begins with Soulspace from Bangalore, respected DJ & producer who has been supported by Laurent Garnier in the past. After his warm deep house comes Indian born German house stalwart Pawas with gentle acid undulations and Bangalore artist Unnayanaa who collaborates with singer Erika Lernot for a sashaying and deep groove with enchanting vocals bringing the exotic vibes. 
Further fine collabs find DJ and promoter Small Town Guy linking with singer and multi- instrumentalist Adil Smaeli to great effect on ‘Oasis’, then Delhi’s Hamza—who runs India’s first house label, Wind Horse Records—ups the tempo with the soulful and intoxicating pads and tablas of ‘Morchang’. There are then trance inducing cuts from Calcutta star Troja, electro-disco jams from long time duo Sharaabi and prolific producer Arnold From Mumbai serves up superbly warm and sunny house. Kone Kone’s track is one that will be released on a special vinyl single and he is a producer with an international reputation, then compiler Todh Teri shows off his big room space disco skills before Red Bull Music Academy alumnus Murthovic and North-South India collab Malfnktion and MadStarbase close things out with pumping melodic techno and a unique take on trap and bass respectively. 
This is a colourful, charismatic and compelling ride through the sounds of the emerging Indian underground and one that is fascinating from start to finish. The album will be supported by a national tour with DJ and live sets from the featured artists.

Mirage

Stars Like Dust, formed in 2017 and the pseudonym of producer Mustafa Yüksel, creates a sound that combines the guitar of 80’s new wave, electric instruments of synth-wave and progressive structure of neo-psychedelia with influences from science fiction and horror movie soundtracks.

He joined us for our 9th editioon of Kantocast with this stellar selection of Turkish Sci-fi. Here is the interview!

1- What pushed you towards DJing and producing music? Where did the inspiration come from?

Everything I do in my life is kind of an adventure for me where I can use my inspirations to create something different. I inspire from everything that has some form of imagination in it and synthesizers and electronic music, in general, help me to expand my creative possibilities as a sonic adventurer. 

2- Do you think music interconnects with culture? How does the environment you live in affect your music?

Of course, it is directly related but usually in a daily manner. In a wider perspective, music connects people in a spiritual and cosmic way. At least that's what I want to believe.    

3- Do you get inspired by any other form of arts? 
Movies and literature are my main source of inspirations, sometimes more than music. Even my name "Stars Like Dust" is borrowed from Isaac Asimov book. Things that evoke emotions and imagination can always present themselves as a source of inspiration.

4- What makes a set a good set? 

Well, I think it has to transform you in a way but the way it transforms depends on the listener. When I produce this Turkish Science Fiction set, my main aim was to create the landscape that listener feels him/herself in somewhere or some time else.  

5- You seem to have a wide range of sources. Is there any particular era or bands that influence you more? 

I stuck in different musical eras or genres time to time but when I started to compose stuff for SLD my main musical source was 70s and 80s French and Turkish music. They might seem unrelated at first but the music was more uniform in a technical way yet culturally diverse in a creative way in that era. But science fiction movies and books were always been my sources for ideas or feelings too. 

6- What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead?

I don't do or follow plans when making music. I usually hear the melodies in my head first then start to compose and bring more ideas to the table. But after the main composition finish, the planning starts. I listen to the songs I did repeatedly for a while (for days) and take notes and make changes and listen again and take notes etc.

Downtempo set played during the first Cosmik Animals Fundraising Party in Brussels on the 23rd March 2019. Organised by the Cosmik Animals crew members. they transformed a huge loft into a spacecraft with a costume camp, a massive dance floor and an amazing confortable chill-out space. 130 guests were invited to take off for a musical journey with 7 DJ's and & 2 VJ's. 

This year we will come back to Nowhere Festival with a better chill-out space, an impressive sound system to become again one of the best musical scene of this co-creative and participative event based on the foundations of Burning Man.

Welcome in this deep musical immersion, when four continents meet electronic music. Musical journey mixing downtempo, ethnic sounds, vocals, organic instruments & melodic vocals. Something sweet, just perfect to chill.
