About Mother Mary
Mother Mary (she/they) is Alex Naylor, a second-generation settler living on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples (currently known as Vancouver, BC).
She brings together elements of UK bass, breaks, emotionally-charged techno, and dark 2-step, always with one eye on the dance floor.
When not in the rave, you can find her planning immersive audiovisual dance experiences with the Radiate crew. In the daytime hours she works in mental health and addictions as a clinician.

The first mix in a series that explores the percussive heavy, polyrhythmic and syncopated styles of dance music that I obsess over. Percussive Persuasion Vol. 1  warms things up with some global influenced club tunes, then builds up to a rhythmic crescendo of Afro-Portuguese Batida, before winding down with some dreamy Baile Funk. She is currently based in Vancouver, BC where we recently had an opportunity to chat in the BSide Radio Studio. I have always enjoyed her sets when I get the chance to see her perform live as a Bass Coast staple! With 20 years on the decks, you can trust that she knows how to steer the dancefloor with laser precision! 

"Junglist since I was 16, I have to admit that D’n’B hasn’t been something I can claim a lot of experience in. So, for this mix I was really excited to explore. After scouring the internet to pinpoint my style – something that would bring some of the darker vibes of d’n’b and all the rudeness of jungle. Well, genre reveal? She’s a minimalist jump up queen (lol). 
I had fun on a sun dampled afternoon recording this mix, and I hope it makes you screwface skank too.
