@oddkut is giving the genre a new lease of life in Russia’s underground music scene. As a part of United gang, the self-described bass community from the country’s capital, Oddkut is paving the way for a new generation of UK-influenced Russian artists. With support from Slimzee and a release on his label Slimzos Recordings, Oddkut has established himself in the scene and produced a wide range of music, but it’s his permanent ability to produce hits at 140 that caught our attention. So it’s not too surprising that his bass-heavy style and exceptional sound design were appreciated by quite a few well-recognized Dubstep labels such as Wheal & Deal, Artikal Music UK or Duploc.

The mix he has prepared for us is definitely not to be missed. And believe us - you are not ready for the amount of face-melting drops 💣

This month’s session features, as usual, loads of fresh, cross-sectional material from our host CrissNSA and a relentless guest mix from a man like Duckem.

Originally from Athens, Greece, Duckem is a longtime head in the scene. He pushes quality 140 sound and promotes talented, up-and-coming underground producers. Recognized for his deep, marked by piercing darkness sound, Alex perfectly fits into our series. The young artist spares no effort on implementing jazz, blues, classic rock and hip-hop influences into his discography and skilfully combines dubstep and UK bass with instrumental, melodic patterns of wave and trap music. He perfectly combines tribal grooves, ethnic chanting and vocals with gritty and fierce basslines, yet he does not shun future garage, wavey and chill or ambient productions. His 140 material graced such labels as the mighty FatKidOnFire, Foundation Audio or Dirty Beats. And his mix is certainly a statement of the variety of styles he incorporates in his music - he manages to tastefully weave soothing rhythms and all sorts of vocalizing interspersed with the ever-lasting deep and dreary side of the genre.

You can now listen back to this month’s Dungeon Beats Session on Subtle. The latest show features a bass music heavyweight with his genre-defying productions sitting comfortably on such reputable imprints as Swamp 81, Encrypted, DDD or Infernal Sounds to name just a few, and his own label - Manuka.

The Cumbria-based producer has been taking the underground bass community by storm. As well as a succession of releases across well-known labels, he’s become a significant face in the North American scene, regularly touring around the 50 states. Recently, he’s appeared on Truth’s iconic Deep, Dark & Dangerous label with a four track EP called Sufferin’ that features collaborations with artists from both sides of the pond. His focus on working with other artists only increases the unique nature of his production, and he’s certainly not finished… Hypho is a man slap-bang in the middle of a whole ton of genres. Before him is a cauldron of breaks, techno, garage, jungle and dubstep that he mixes with his own unique ingredients. He stirs and stirs until it froths over the edge, then flings the sticky, swampy substance at respected labels ranging from  Tony J Riley’s Encrypted Audio to Stanton Warriors’ Punks by way of 877, Four40 and Eatmybeat. His shady, shadowy sonics speak for themselves. Just check his latest fractured, forward thrusting constructions on Encrypted Audio.

Back on Subtle with another Dungeon Beats Session! This month CrissNSA is welcoming a day one Grime original and co-founder of the mighty Rinse FM - DJ Slimzee and a new project of two Polish bass scene veterans - Fathertz.

In the early 2000’s, Slimzee pioneered the grime sound and became the genre’s leading DJ with exclusive dubplates & VIP’s to then assist in the success of Dizzee Rascal. He was one of the first DJs to start introducing the dark new music coming out of the UK garage scene into his sets and throughout the early 2000s, he hosted a Sunday afternoon grime show which would regularly showcase some of the genre's best MCs. He’s one of the most important innovators in UK music of the past 20 years with a public profile close to zero and a distinct aversion to the promo and publicity game. 

Fathertz was born from the shared fascination with underground, electronic sounds, friendship and thousands of hours of backstage conversations in all kinds of venues. Jah Bass and fiftififti, who you may have heard on one of the many club gigs, sound system sessions, raves or underground festivals are now joining forces in the b2b convention. The aim of Fathertz is to promote bass music through sets played online and live. By confronting their distinctive styles and selections they create a new quality, which you can only fully experience by taking part in the events involving these two.

We’re back on Subtle Radio with another Dungeon Beats Sessions. This time our freshest crewmate Istota invited Manchester’s rising talent Antagonist and DrumObsession’s very own STC, so expect only proper dnb/jungle vibes.

Since his teenage years, Antagonist has had a keen interest in music. He started out Djing at the back end of the cassette tape era in late 2004 and progressed into the club circuit around 2009. Spending years honing his craft to perfection and experimenting with various genres, he finally set the concrete down with the darker and cinematic side of dnb & electronic music. Signed to labels such as Samurai, Dispatch, Ronin Ordinance and co-owner of Discipline Records, Mike prepared for us a masterful blend of spacey, atmospheric halftime & mechanical drum patterning.

STC has never really clung to one genre and medium - if the music flows, he flows with its groove. He’s a DJ, promoter, the other face of the now-defunct Black Crane label, and a member of the DrumObsession & Sinewave Sounds crews. His cross-sectional taste in music and unparalleled DJing skills made him appear on such platforms as Atmoteka or Vykhod Sily, always delivering carefully curated sets. For this month’s show he arrives with an exceptional jungle selection you will just adore.

Hailing from Bucharest, @alienmade is a producer and DJ whose work reaches far out from under the shadow of the Carpathian mountains for almost 10 years now.

That’s how @vond describes his musical output. Surrounded by a diverse combination of inspiration, from jazz to hip-hop to jungle, he ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of influence which translates into his timeless productions.

Having collaborated with the biggest names of the genre and releasing on the very finest and most respected imprints of the genre, such as DEEP MEDi, Artikal Music UK, System Music & DUB STUY, Von D went on to become one of the artists who shaped the dubstep sound.
As a DJ he travelled far and wide, reaching Russia and Asia, travelling all over Europe, as well as touring twice in New Zealand and Australia and 8 times in the USA. He played legendary venues such as FWD at Plastic People and made countless guest appearances at Rinse.fm, carving a truly unique position in the underground bass scene.

@roklemdubs & @sebalooooo from Cologne, Germany has been producing Bass Music for 10 years and working as a duo since 2016.

While Roklem‘s sound leans toward the heavier side of the 140 sound, Sebalo’s productions are rooted in Dub. 15 years ago, they fell in love with Dubstep and with consistent output since 2017, they have released on labels such as Deep, Dark & Dangerous, FatKidOnFire, Silent Motion and Dirty Beats. They received support from artists like Ternion Sound, Truth, Distinct Motive, Enigma Dubz and Caspa to name a few.

They are residents at Silly Sounds Cologne and have played multiple venues outside of Germany as well. They have played alongside Enigma Dubz, Bukez Finezt, ColtCuts and more. In 2017 they founded SUB garden to support up-and-coming artists from around the world, now having released well over 100 tunes - the first vinyl appeared in October 2021. Their enthusiasm for the genre has grown ever since and they can't wait for what's to come!

We’re back on Subtle Radio airwaves for another Dungeon Beats Sessions. This month Istota will be joined by two special guests - Wiltshire-based Eusebeia & local soldier K.R Ufo.

Eusebeia is a producer whose work spans across multiple styles and genres and is certainly a name to watch in the jungle scene and beyond. Since his first release in 2015, his music has appeared on various labels such as Rupture, Repertoire, Warehouse Rave, Western Lore, Modern Conveniences and more. He’s shown the range of his musical spectrum via releases in various styles and tempos, moving between grainy ambient, experimental beats, dub reggae, drum & bass among others.

Hailing from Szamotuły, near Poznań, Poland K.R Ufo is a DJ, producer & cultural expert. A man with many interests, constantly trying to keep an open mind. He’s behind the first Polish footwork track and for 10 years he ran the collective and label GHOSTMENTAL. He has released on a number of imprints including Sapyens Records, Lineout.pl, JUKEunderground and Polish Juke.

We’re back with another Dungeon Beats Sessions. Ewski on hosting duties this month, welcoming two special guests - Czech-based producer WZ and local soldier Enes from Warsaw.

WZ is a Czech DJ and producer, co-founder and member of Shakhta Records and Harmless Youth. He started making music in 2009 and since then he has released on FatKidOnFire, eatmybeat, Locus Sound, Artikal Music UK or 9Rambos. In 2015 he took part in the Red Bull Music Academy. Soon after, his track "Death Struggle" was by Ishan Sound at Boiler Room. He has more releases incoming on Pond Life Party and Low End Music and he’s working on his debut rap-focused album. He’s hosting a residency on Subtle and Prague's radio Punctum.

Enes is a DJ/producer and turntablist from Warsaw, closely connected to the Polish underground bass-electronic and Hiphop scenes. Member of Dobrebity.pl, Kokafellaz and Naturalna Selekcja. His mixes are a mixture of different genres: Dubstep/Grime/Trap/Juke/Dnb/Rap and even Dub Techno, all flavoured with some serious scratching.
