The Light Of My Life - Paploviante

Welcome and well met! The chances that you will be granted eternal life, after listening to this creation, are pretty good!

This is my first ever "useable" eurorack modular patch i ever created and passed my hearing test (lol) for reaching its final state of going public - therefore being uploaded onto the cloud. 

I am down to synths, hell yes i do! I recently found, that there are some organic limitations in working only in a DAW with virtual instruments. I herded quite some synths and will definately use them in future tracks, but working analogue is quite different.

There is no preset to load, no ultimate variations or starting points, depending on the architecture and the signal flow, you have to fiddle and turn some knobs and sliders and really understand the basics and how all of these manipulations come together to create something audible.

Some stuff is pre-patched internally, especialy with semi-modular stuff, and for instance using something like the Behringer Crave or the Arturia Minibrute 2, this stuff can be manipulated and tweaked thanks to a additional patchbay with many ins and outs to plug some cables for some FUN.

I got this eurorack-case quite some time ago and it was just a matter of time that i will order my first module, and another one and yeah that other fancy one too, and gladly i did not turn mad (yet), because there are millions of possibilities and options to create your own really "unique" instrument with so much stuff being able to do with it, that someone really should boggle about it  more than twice, before loading tons of stuff into the shopping basket and put some heat on the credit card... hahaha.

After a nice weekend at the "parentsinlawplace" i ended up after quite some midi-to cv (control voltage) trial and error runs and decided i will just go for some really mindless fun before i hit bed.
What happened then was this 4 minute thing with me patching some stuff into the osiris wavetable oscillator module by modbap and what you hear in this drone-scape-ish osiris travel into the afterlife (and maybe back again?). It is the result of using 2 sliders and 5 knobs and getting a feel of actually going with the "flow" while discovering the sonic beauty of it.

This is the very first modular track i uploaded ever, just slightly tweaked in the DAW (added intro/outro filtersweep and delay and a general chorus to add some stereo mojo).

This is something completely different what most of you might expect here and there will be more. This is a lifetime progress and process, and I'd be happy to have you on this journey.

PS: Some technical background -  for the freaks and interested people.
I did use two modulation sources which were provided by the self built DIY Dysphonia Synth - one LFO and a S&H (Sample and Hold), which were modulating the Osiris Wavetable. When you take a look onto a Wavetable, there is a X and a Y Axis. On the Osiris you can patch these with some external control-voltage (CV), so i tweaked and modulated a constant change with both the x and the y axis, as well changing the actual wavetable-position on the module itself. Additionally i changed the timbre knob to add some additional change in the tonality and character.

When https://soundcloud.com/dneye asked me for a track to play his fantastic guitars on, I brainstormed this 5/4 piece with odd chord set in order to make it difficult to him and thus get the best from his skills. After programming it, I added some organic solos (yep I played keys) to make it seem more friendly ;))))

And he... succeeded in the challenge, overcoming all my expectations !!!

Two For The Money (Patersongs & Conover)

For the 31st Solar Kama Sutra song I decided to challenge myself a bit and do something in 7/4 time.  I tried remembering a band I heard do that and thought, "Isn't Pink Floyd's "Money" in 7/4 time?"  I remembered hearing it and thinking it was...

...  Turns out it is!  So for that reason I thought of Pink Floyd, and tried to do a Pink Floydish sound.    It's also a nod to Radiohead's "Pyramid Song".  I tried to capture the same feeling that song gives me, but with Solar Kama Sutra this time. 
(by the way, Solar Kama Sutra has always been just one person.  It's just the name for what I call the music)

Since Radiohead already used "Pyramid" which is well-known since ancient Egypt to be the coolest shape, I had to go with something else.  "Sphere Song" and "Cube Song" ?...  Well...  Those song titles just aren't gonna work....   Maybe "Dodecahedron Song"?....  Hmm... That actually sounds pretty catchy...  Feel free to use it!  

 My vocals are used more heavily on this track than it seems.  Throughout the track I tried to make my vocals sound like guitars and other instruments

  And definitely hats off to Pink Floyd for making a hit song in a 7/4 time signature.   How many times has that been done before?!

And of course, hats off to Stonehenge.  The ultimate inspiration for this track
