My Beacon,  My Deacon 
Of  Hopes  And  Dreams.

The moon is a friend
for the lonely to talk to,
how often I have stood
and wailed beneath
his cloudy shoulders.

Sometimes it felt
as if my pain,
was eroding him away,
to a sliver of hope,
just a fingernail grasp,
clawing the sky.

Then there were nights
he couldn't be there,
perhaps off to
commiserate with
some other
lonely, broken soul,
in a distant land
leaving me vast space
above me and
also in my soul.

My fondest times
under his bright glow
came when I was kissing
another heavenly face,
one could almost
feel him wink
a cratered eye at me.

He is faithful,
and has been
there for me
through the
many long nights,
that followed empty days,
ever since I was wee.
peeping through my window,
from cradle to grave,
and even then, he will
stand silent vigil
over the earthen mound
that will hold
what once was
a dearest friend.
