Il poeta è una ballata che come nello stile inconfondibile di Ruggeri riesce a unire melodia e narrazione, facendo nascere un vero e proprio manifesto di cultura. Il brano racconta di un genio (verosimilmente Socrate, ma potrebbe essere valido per qualunque poeta incompreso in vita), deriso e vituperato per una vita poco incline all’etica più comune. La sua mancata coincidenza con il pensiero conformista, fa sì che il poeta venga presto escluso da molti, dal momento che la sua posizione (e la verità che racconta) si rivela spesso scomoda.

Enrico Ruggeri non è uno che le manda a dire; anche in questo nuovo singolo, possiamo quindi catturarne una polemica contro alcuni pseudo opinionisti, colpevoli di giudicare con atteggiamento da tuttologi e di scegliere così l’arte che debba essere più o meno divulgata. Il coro, che canta “Il libero pensiero ha un prezzo da pagare”, conferma una volta di più il senso della canzone.

Il poeta emoziona, con metafore (il poeta viene ucciso anche senza essere necessariamente vittima di un omicidio) e note tanto dolci quanto forti nel loro impatto. Così si fa musica: prendano pure lezione i giovani trapper.

Blowin' in the Wind è una famosa canzone di contenuto pacifista scritta da Bob Dylan nel 1962 e pubblicata la prima volta l'anno successivo nell'album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan.

Questo brano è da molti considerato il manifesto della generazione dei giovani statunitensi disillusi dalla politica portata avanti negli anni cinquanta e sessanta dal loro paese e sfociata dapprima nella guerra fredda e poi nella guerra del Vietnam.

Quando scrisse questo motivo (la cui melodia fu ispirata all'autore da un canto degli schiavi afroamericani: No More Auction Block, Dylan non era ancora quel paladino della controcultura che dopo pochi anni avrebbe rimesso in discussione – con la propria attività artistica di poeta e musicista – antichi pregiudizi e paure nuove; ma già allora – giovane cantastorie proveniente da un piccolo sobborgo minerario del Minnesota – era in grado di mostrarsi cosciente e padrone – in termini di comprensione del senso delle cose – dei nuovi pericoli derivanti dall'era atomica (i temi del fall out erano peraltro già stati illustrati con amara e sofferta poeticità dai cantori della Beat Generation, in primis Jack Kerouac ed Allen Ginsberg).

Tre semplici strofe sono in questo caso sufficienti al compositore-poeta per interrogarsi su tematiche sociali ed esistenziali. In particolare, al centro della sua visionaria poeticità sono il senso della condizione umana e l'incapacità dell'uomo di ripudiare in maniera definitiva e totale ogni tipo di guerra.

Nel ritornello – rivolto metaforicamente a un ipotetico amico, nel quale si potrebbe identificare l'intera umanità - viene data una risposta che lascia uno spiraglio all'ottimismo: una risposta che c'è, e a portarla basterà un soffio di vento.
