Exmag "Fully Dusted" Presented by Jiberish

For our latest Jiberish mix we teamed with Launceston, Tasmania-based producer Akouo (ah-koo-oh). The mix features a mellow, hip hop based vibe perfect for the changing of the seasons. 

Akouo is a locally recognized as a beatmaker and DJ in Australia’s underground hip-hop scene before gaining national and worldwide attention as a solo act in 2013. His breakthrough came after his reworks of Flume and Childish Gambino effortlessly floated into Hype Machine’s top 5 most popular charts, and he has since become an in-demand remixer, appearing on official releases by SAFIA, Thief, Sampology and Zulu.

Akouo "Cold Front" Presented by Jiberish

For the newest addition to our Jiberish Mixtape series we linked with Daktyl (@daktylmusic), a London based multi-instrumentalist producer who just released his debut album on Mad Decent records. What he came back with was the 2AM Black Cab Mix. This mixtape lives in a grimy club in South London where traditional dub plates and bass still dominate the scene. If you are looking for Katy Perry then you've come to the wrong location. 2AM Black Cab Mix does however slide in underground electronic and little known hip hop, transporting you to the late night streets of London.

Daktyl is currently in the US for an album tour followed by further dates around the world. If you are in the Denver area, check out his show on June 10th.

For the newest Jiberish Mixtape, we linked with up and coming producer Manatee Commune. Summits Vol. 1 is a smooth blend of airy hip hop beats and downtempo electronic sounds. 

Manatee Commune, a.k.a. Grant Eadie, began in the misty trees Bellingham, Washington. Combining textures of the rainy woods and the windy seas of the Pacific Northwest with the calming mood of clean surfy guitar licks and rolling arpeggiated sine waves, Manatee Commune seeks to capture the atmosphere of taking a thoughtful, self-reflecting stroll through the forest. Bright, down tempo percussion placed neatly under pleasant, classically influenced viola melodies make his music both easily listenable and complex.
