Heres my newst recording.Im gonna mix the counting out of it soon.But its sounding good here.Joe Hamm is drumming and Roddey Phipps is playing slide and we recorded it at his place so giant credit and props to engineering! Im doing everything else.Its in E flat with a capo on the acoustic so I got to tune down and do the fake barratone guitar on my old Gretsch Corvette.I guess thats it.

I wrote this on in the aftermath of the Jody Grind accident in 1990.Recorded at Bob Rupes house a few years ago.Bob plays lap steel,bass and drum program.I do the rest.I like the double acoustic guitars.

Nuthin Left

This was salvaged off a cassett tape I found from about 1987 when Charlie Pickett was staying at my Apt in Atlanta.I have this old 4 track we set up.CP,Walter CZ and I played tis sketch of an idea Charlie had.Later he cut if for the Wilderness in a very different way.It didnt make it tho.This is the way it was on the cassett only in tune!Another Bob Rupe productin.I used his 63 SG thu his Ratt and Gibson Amp for the cheap slide part.First time I ever recorded a slide part.Drop high E and go fartin away!The buzzy guitar part is same guitar and amp but with the Mica Tone fuzz I got for my birthday in 1970.Still workin!Bob did drum program and bass.I play this with the Skylarks sometimes.

Take It Up

This is from several songs I did in 1990.Started in Atlanta,went to Richmond and then finished in Athens.Basic tracks recorded in Atlanta where the Black Crowes recorded thier first LP.Then over time,it was overdubbed in 3 more studios,then last ditch effort to save them,I went to John Keans when most guitars and vocals were replaced.Its also where John put on the pedel steele guitar which really added a nice haunting,sorrowful tone.
  Bill Burton on Drums.Bob Elsey on lead guitar.Bob Rupe on Bass.Me on 12 string and other assorted electrics.JK on Pedel Steele.I think thats all the credits.Bob Elsey plays my 89 LP Gold Top reissue thru my Vox AC 30.Man,amazing sound.Amazing part,too.

No Regrets

This was written after I read a book on Diane Arbus,the photogropher.In the book it said one of her early goals was to be a dancer.Its the same crew as the other song.John Kean adds the walking guitar line in the chorus.Sam Hughes adds organ.Bob Elseys guitar was original basic track.Billy added the cool drum intro in the studio.I think thats all here.

Dancin Diane

This was side A of a song I made in 91,Dancin Diane was side B.This was supposed to be my opus.Not to be.The Chant played it a lot back then.It sounded good in that band,too.
  Same crew as last 2 songs.Tim White on Organ.Double guitar riff was 70 SG jr and 89 LP thru Johns Marshall.Johns Martin acousic guitar sounds great here.Also on No Regrets.
Bobs grizzaly middle guitar was also the 89 LP thru the AC 30 cranked full up.Bob Elseys lead,again on basic track.It was perfect.Probably 5 or 6 guitars there.Buried there is a track with a Country Gent I had for a minute.John added tamborine also.Bob Rupe sings back ground with me at the end.
  Without those guys,these songs would have the life they have.I am in total debt to each and every one a million times over.
  

I Knew Something

This one has a small life of its own.Wrtiien with fragmented memories of my famlys life in Pompano Beach before we moved to Ft.Lauderdale.Joseph was a kid who was picked on in the summer camp transport car,no bus,it was a Ford Falcon Stationwagon.Uncle Freddy was the trainer for the Washington Senators.The 'gingerbread' was actually chewing tabbaco,but I didnt know.I was 8 or 9.Pauline Betz was a friend of the familys was was also a womens tennis champ.And I did get caught in a bit of an undertow on the beach one day,only for a few seconds,but it scared the piss out of me.The other kid who uttered the words "Whats the matter...etc..." was Robbie Weir,I think.The whole song was kicked off from a picture my sister gave me of my Dad holding me at a train station in Orlando.Thats where I got the first line and the rest just came out. 
This was recorded on the Skylarks CD.Thanks,Mike!We played it in the Vidalias but it didnt make the cut for the second CD.This is Joe Hamm on Drums,Bob Elsey on super forlorn lead and bass and me on all the other guitars and singin.Tim Lee on organ and background vocals.By the way,this is the real Joseph.I have to delete the other one.

This was recorded in 1989 in a beautiful 16 track,2 inch studio,now a parking lot.Joe Hamm on Drums,Bob Elsey on super cool tremelo lead and me on guitar and singin.Bobs guitar was fed thru a Blond 60s Bandmaster and a Blond Fender cabnet we think was a Tonemaster.We did 2 tracks for the lead,then blended them cuz it made such a great noise.Bob used a custom made Strat like guitar,but I cant think of the name of the guy.Used also on the other sessions except where noted.He used my 75 PBass and I used the 89 LP with my late 60s Gretsch Corvette thru the Vox AC 30.The Gretsch has a power paxk in it which makes a crazy buzzy attack.Fills out the sound nicley. 
This was written in St.Pete on my friends Sam Bonds dock out back his house.Theres a sign that says Sams Marina on it hanging on a piling.So,there ya go.

Sams Marina

This was put together with some memories I had when sitting with the Pandoras at 688 club back in  the late 80s.The music came to me after I stuck a capo in my guitar on the 7th fret watching the CMAs noticing everyone had a capo on their guitar somewhere.I did it at Roddey Phipps house one day.He did the great egineering and all.I played everything ceptin the elec drums which Roddey did.Its not entirley finished,but good enough for now.Used my Susanna Hoffs Ric on he 3 guitar tracks.Sounds great!

Hey Everybody!
  Heres a bunch of my stuff from over the years.Some is live to dat,some is 24 track,multy studio (thousands of dollar) epics.
  There are tracks from The Chant,solo stuff,tribute projects.Songs on the Skylarks and the Bogues CDs to come.
  I have been playing guitar for centurys.But really got going after playing bass with Charlie Pickett in 1981.Then moved over to the DT Martyrs and then the Chant which put out a full length LP on our first release.
  After moving to Atlanta,I spent time in The Vidalias,the Bogues and now in the Skylarks.Recently,the Chant has been playing after a 15 year layoff.
  So this is how I spent my time in all these bands.However,along the way,the Vidalias stuff has been sucked up by a lable or company which doesnt allow me to post here.Too bad.But you can find it elsewhere.
