With such a long & Vibrant international DJ career, Jimbo is considers as one of the leading & most innovative DJ’s coming out of The Netherlands. Jimbo connection to music started when he was just a kid. His father had a huge Vinyl collection and there were speakers placed all around the house (even in the bathroom at some point) playing mostly rock, funk and reggae and classic Indian music, Jimbo loved making mixtapes fusing all the music genres he was inspired from. In the early 90’s he started to collect records and spin music around Amsterdam as a Acid-House and Techno DJ and was involved in organising underground Acid-House parties in clubs and other venues especially in Ruigoord church and around the Netherlands .Not long after hearing early Trance music brought by Riktam & Bansi (GMS) in the late 90’s he stopped playing Acid-House and Techno and got hooked on these fresh Trance tunes and it became his addiction .Leaving Amsterdam for Asia where He play his first big Trance set on New Years Eve on the Island of Koh Pangan in the Millennium Party 2000 on the beach, since then he’s been playing and traveling around the world and enjoying life mostly under the palm trees in Goa located in India as his home base for the last almost 20 years. Jimbo performed in a wide variety of events, from clubs, private events to large open-air events and festivals and his long resume include demanding stages such as, Antaris Festival (Germany), Hill Top Festival (India), Shiva Vally (India), Pebble (India), Com4Trance (Israel), Kit Kat (Germany), Solstice Festival (The Netherlands), Landjuweel Ruigoord (The Netherlands) and many more.
During the summer of 2017 Raja Ram invited Jimbo to join TIP Records and become part of their Artists / DJ’s roster.After a long and total crazy covid stop and moving to Portugal having lots of time ti reflect on music and how to go forward  it was time to reinvent the path and fine new inspiration son in 2022 the passion for house and tribal afro house was was reborn …

We celebrate two years of Shika Shika with the release of our third compilation: Eco. 

Eco sums up what Shika Shika is about - the global reverberations of styles, genres, traditions and sounds moving around the world and fusing to create inspiring new music. We call it music without borders and on Eco we present 11 tracks that are exactly that. 

The tracks we hand-picked for Eco draw inspiration from traditional rhythms, stories and melodies and fuse them with individual inspirations, sounds from nature and electronic music. This is exemplified on Di Laif’s anthemic opener “Paso Por el Fuego” or Guazú’s incredible “Pava de Monte” featuring Wenceslada. Some artists like Jin Jerei and Oxhalá take us on a journey deep into their roots while others like Didacte and O.R. create atmospheric textural, electronic-organic soundscapes. Ibu Selva’s “Chega de Esperar” is a rework of a Brazilian agrarian reform anthem while Klik & Frik offer up a beautiful edit of Hassan Ben Jaafar, a master of Moroccan Gnawa music. 

It is hard to believe it has been two years since Shika Shika was started as a platform to showcase some of the music we truly loved from the thriving community from Sao Paulo to Seoul. Two years of connections, exchanges, ideas, new sounds and, most of all, incredible support and feedback from the people who listen & buy this music all over the world. We started Shika Shika as a way to give exposure and support to this community, sharing 70% of all the profits with the artists directly, and are inspired to continue pushing the music we love.
