“I woke up one morning with a melody in my head. I had dreamt it and I was so afraid of forgetting it that I grabbed my phone and recorded it immediately. Technology has its uses, after all. It was such a gorgeous melody that I felt the need… no, I felt the urge to finish it. So I sent my horrible phone recording with my 7 am singing voice to Torbjørn and asked him if he would like to work on that song I had just dreamt of. When he replied to me saying that he liked the idea, I was over the moon with joy! I truly admire his music so I knew something good was in store for this song. But I never imagined it could get this good! I was so incredibly surprised when he came up with such an amazing instrumental track. He definitely took it to the next level. I’m just so enthralled with Jonnie’s versatility and his readiness to always try new sounds, new genres. He really likes challenges and being pushed away a little from his comfort zone. When I showed him some songs from some bands I love, like The Rasmus, Evanescence and Paramore, he was very enthusiastic about trying to go for something like that. I tried to do my part with the vocals too, but well, neither of us can help being ourselves in the end, so this is the result: “More.” I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed working on it.

“More” is about never learning lessons in love, about our human nature, which always asks for more, even when we know we’ll end up getting hurt.

But completely an amazing song.

It is called 'If I Saw You'.

Jimena of Excorde is singing about a person who she has never met.

The lyrics are beautiful & heartfelt.

The singing performance is flawless.

The complex piano chords & song pacing are perfect, allowing us to fully appreciate her vocal ability, vocal range, vibrato, expression, artistry, musical passion and undeniable singing skill.

I have heard many songs by Excorde, and personally I consider getting involved in mastering assistance, to help others to recognise the full potential.

That hasn't happened so far, but I have assisted them with promotion to help people to recognise their ability as a group.

So to hear this song & see this phenomenally emotionally charged video, it is a wonderful thing, because the sound quality is immense, the music is immersive & the performance is captivating.

I hope as many people as possible get t see this video so that finally Excorde's potential can be seen on a larger scale.

Is this a song review? It could be.

I think the purpose of writing this is ultimately to help others to recognise the importance of emotions in music.

When Jonnie told me he was writing a new song, I was certainly not expecting to receive this! Wow! I was (and still am) in awe. Not because his compositions haven’t impressed me in the past, but because he can also write melancholic ballads on the piano. And what a ballad!!! So heartfelt, so unique... This magical piece was very different from all the ballads I had done before and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to come up with something as good lyrically or vocally. But after the initial “I-can’t-do-this” shock subsided, I understood that, in order to make it right, my contribution to the song would have to be unique, too. So I tried to sing differently this time, not with my full voice, but emulating the intimate atmosphere Jonnie had created with the keyboards and sing as intimately as I possibly could. I sincerely hope you like the result.

When Jonnie showed me the first chords of “True” I didn’t even take the time to reply to him that I had felt “love at first listen” with it, because I just had the urge to record the melody for the verses that had instantaneously appeared in my mind. I had to capture that idea before it escaped me for good. I love it when that happens. Instant inspiration. That’s the effect a great song has on me.  
I feel truly blessed that Jonnie still wants to write songs with me because I admire his creative mind so much and I love being able to take part in the process until the song is finished. “True” is our latest collaboration and one of my favorite songs so far. What an incredible journey this song has been! I still remember the pretty pop melody that Torbjørn showed me a year ago… The wait has certainly been worth it! That baby song has grown into this huge monster thanks to the amazing work of all talented musicians who took part in this. I still can’t believe that virtual bands are actually possible and we can create music from different parts of the world!!!

A huge thanks to Torbjørn for trusting me this song to write lyrics and vocal melodies for. I adore the music that lives inside of him… so much talent he has. And not only that… all the hours of work he puts into music to make it perfect. I just can’t thank him enough.

This song is yet another massive collaborative project between the extremely talented Torbjørn Vagle and me. When he showed me the first demo, it was a beautiful piano melody and I felt elated to be able to craft a melody on top and write lyrics for it. But listening to this final version, I can't help sheding a tear of two because it sounds so huge now. I feel truly blessed to be able to write music with Torbjørn, because he gives me all the freedom in the world to soar with melodies and try different things.
This song also includes the amazing guitar work of Joachim Vagle, Torbjørn's son. He is an incredibly gifted guitar player. Please go and visit his page here: @joachimvagle. You won't regret it.
Also, the drums sound this good because they've been played by John O'Reilly Jr. Another gem in this song.

Anymore (Feat. Phil Trickey)

"No Matter What" is my latest collaboration with Phil Trickey (@trickey-sound), who happens to be not only an amazing producer, but also a truly gifted multi-instrumentalist and composer; not to mention what a kind soul he is.

When I showed him a demo of this song I had written a couple of years ago, it only had some guitar chords and my vocals. I was blown away when he replied to me with this version. It filled my heart with joy to hear how he had taken the song to the next level.

"No Matter What" is about being ghosted by the person you like. How many times have you waited for a call, a message, a smoke sign, anything? Isn't it easier for that person to tell you that s/he isn't interested in you instead of keeping you waiting anxiously, on the verge of madness? This song is a desperate cry for help: "Why don't you say you don't love, don't need me"? For god's sake, say something! It's despairing indeed. So this song is for people to vent their pent-up frustration in these situations. Hope you enjoy it!

(ENG) Jimena Arroyo is a singer-songwriter from La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 19, she won a car in a singing competition on a TV show in her country. From that moment on, she started performing live and worked as a touring singer in a cover band for over ten years. After that, she decided to focus on her original songs, so she started working with very talented musicians, composers and producers from all over the world. She is also the lead singer of Excorde.
