Don't Rush God's Plan

"Did you know that madness grows in the darkness, in the shadows?"  

Oh...how did I manage to get the sound of vinyl cue burn into the intro to this track?  ;)  

First things first, this is not a political song--at all.  The track talks about the feeling of emotional quarantine, social quarantine--nothing to do with those rare times when an uncontained global pandemic (let's say) makes temporary quarantines, for public health, appropriate (and good.)  

This is a surprisingly cheery song for such a theme full of dark vibes.  (Why so dark?  Well, it COULD be that I'm getting my head in the right place for some Interbay tracks to celebrate spooky week.  But, I'll be honest--I didn't need any help getting my head into a dark place.  

This is one of what seems to be a recent trend where Interbay tracks are more personal than they have been.  I do feel like I'm quarantined--that I don't see people, don't go out, don't do much of anything (other than puttering away down in the Labs on Interbay stuff, of course.)  And, it is starting to really get to me--the isolation, the loneliness.  Combine that with a hamster wheel of a brain that is spinning at ludicrous speed, all of the time...and this is both a cry for help and a cry for some peace of mind.  

(That may be a BIT dramatic--but I am a member of the International Society of Thespians, after all.)  

This track started with a strange chord progression, paired with a strange future pop instrumentation for those chords.  Add some Gloom drums (no kidding--the plugin I used is called "Gloom") and a live bass...and you have...a mess--no, that's not what I was going to say.  You have...obviously...Interbay.  

I was also inspired by "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel w/Kate Bush...in that most of the song is slow, then right at the end, the tempo goes up--lead by a strong bassline.  I did that here--but, as usual, I pushed it to the extreme.  (This is one of my favorite basslines--and despite my wanting to keep this track under five minutes, I daren't cut this part out of the track.  

It might not be purely thematic, but maybe it's hopeful?  Yeah...I'll go with that.  Hopeful!
