Cuban duo PAUZA have curated new series ‘Cuba, Get Physical!’ and it kicks off with one of their own tracks with Arema Arega and a remix by Monkey Safari.

Paula Fernandez and Zahira Sanchez, both from Havana, have a distinctive take on house music that draws on their rich local cultural references. The result is a sound rich in organic percussion and Afro-tinged drums that are authentic and alive every step of the way. They have been associated with Get Physical for a while and have released solo EPs and contributed to the Cocada - The Second Season compilation in the past. Here they work with Arema Arega, a Cuban singer-songwriter, music producer, painter and fashion designer.

'Caliente' is a brilliantly rich house sound with organic percussion and hypnotising vocals from Arega. The groove bumps and shuffles, with wooden hits and bubbling bass next to slick synth work and sensuous trumpet sounds which add up to a seductive and cultural track.

Label mainstays Monkey Safari then step up with a remix that goes deep. It's sprinkled with shakers, delicate chord work and moody grooves that snake late into the night and get you in a trance.

This is a superb introduction to the forthcoming Cuba, Get Physical! EP.

Mihai Popoviciu returns to the label with an incredible new EP. Remix support comes from Frink and Pornbugs. Legendary Romanian producer Mihal Popoviciu broke into the scene way back in 2001, over 20 years later his back catalogue, including releases for Poker Flat, 8 Bit and Bedrock, showcases just why he's considered one of eastern Europe's most innovative artists. Given his gifted talents in the studio, it wasn't long before he was travelling across the globe DJing at clubs and festivals as far flung as Thailand, Canada and everywhere inbetween. For the digital release, two originals and two remixes make up the pack. Opening with 'Jewel' skipping hats and a low slung bass welcome you back to mind of a master. Deep disco-y sweeps add melodics to this subtle head nodder that hypnotises in the sweetest way. Grooving you to bliss is Mihai's mission, and boy, does he deliver! Next up, the second original, 'This' takes us deeper into the groove. Funky deep bass and a vocal refrain "This is the real thing" kick things off before airy pad sweeps and chords add the meat of the melodic content. Teasing out the key changes over the mid section the story unfolds with class. For the first of the remixes, label bosses Pornbugs take the vinyl-only original 'Only' on a merry ride. Beefing up the groove and phattening the drums, they transform the track into a solid uptempo peak time monster. For the finalé, Spanish deep house hero Frink reworks 'This'. Turning the dail to 11 from the off he teases the original motifs into a sultry pleasure palace of vibe. An EP full of secret weapons for months to come.

Demi Riquísimo and his Semi Delicious imprint return for their 15th edition with another versatile, club ready collection of cuts from old & new members of the label family set for a release on the 7th July.

The EP features contributions from regulars Lulah Francs, Jive Talk & label owner Demi alongside debuts from NairLess, Last Magpie, Corbi and Michelle Manetti. 

The A-side kicks off with ‘All I Need’, a collaborative track from Demi & Michelle Manetti. A bouncing, progressive house number with some old school Italian flavour that sets the tone nicely for the EP. Corbi’s ‘Kraken’ is up next providing some driving, analog acid squelch to SEMID015. ‘Don't Make Me Wait’ by Lulah Francs & Nebari wraps up the Ice Cream side. Proto house style drum programming and bass are juxtaposed nicely to the psychedelic synth work and impeccable vocals from Lulah creating a unique and versatile track to close out the A-side. 
The B-side opens with NairLess’ ‘Swell’, a tripped out slice of balearic trance. The EP takes a slightly more heads down turn on ‘Release It’ by Last Magpie. A menacing track driven by a sharp synth line that you’re sure to hear over festival season. Jive Talk’s ‘Wizard’s Slippers’ wraps up the EP in their imitable style. Off kilter drums, unique bass and minimalism with the perfect amount of elements to pique the listener’s interest bringing SEMID015 to a close in style.

Liverpool DJ & Producer Eldon lets loose on Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two with a triple blast of low slung groovy numbers, accompanied by a tight Fleur Shore remix to complete the ‘Los Cinco’ EP. 

Previously releasing on the likes of Trick, Hottrax, Sola and Nervous Records, Eldon has been turning heads and making his mark on the scene, racking up an impressive discography since 2021.  The ‘Los Cinco’ EP marks a return for Eldon to Four Thirty Two, following 2021’s ‘Booty Shaker’ EP.

The title track ‘Los Cinco’ opens the EP, with stripped back raw basslines and mesmerising vocal interludes. ‘Formally Known’ takes the sound in a bouncier direction, equipped with an infectious groove, tasteful blips & bleeps, and juicy percussive hits. 

Fleur Shore’s remix of ‘Formally Known’ moves the original in an industrialised-retro direction, as heavyweight steely percussive elements knock in time with a rounded brazen bassline.  Fleur has been firing on all cylinders of late, with a run of releases for Cuttin’ Headz, Boogeyman and Edible under her belt.

‘Wait A Minute’ rounds off Eldon’s original three tracks with a sequenced dancing bassline glued together by a sturdy drums ensemble.

The 2015 Ibiza season is officially underway, and we’ve been hard at work together with Get Physical regular Tuccillo preparing the perfect compilation for the occasion. 14 brand new tracks and 1 DJ mix should be enough to get any party started. Whether it’s the chill vibes of ‘Taired’ from newcomer Alci on the beach, or the late night burner ‘Adewale’ from Italian producer Yaya there’s definitely something for every situation you might find yourself in on the island this summer. Paolo Rocco and Physica deliver a straight house groove on top of classic techno sounds with ‘Nuttin To Worry About’ while Alex Dimou remixes and re-envisions last years ‘Love Won’t Wait’ (by John Monkman) as a slow-building after-hour delight.
