An enjoyable romp through some ancient bagpipe tunes (Pibroch)from hundreds of years ago with bagpipes, metal drums and didgeridu. Jimi is joined by Eric Clark on full drum kit and Crispin Caunter from Sweden on didgeridu. Pibrochs include 'Colin Macrae of Inverinate's Lament', 'The Battle of Sheriffmuir' and 'The Blind Piper's Obstinacy'. 
Catherine Tulley from Celtic Music Review wrote: "I have never heard anything quite like McRae and I doubt I will down the line. Some people just see things differently and it comes out when they play. It's the mark of a true artist, and I can say with conviction that Jimi the Piper fits this category".

Ana's Homecoming

Jimi takes a tour around the Scottish hills where he grew up in this popular lockdown composition, now the title track of his 2022 release. Vocals, pipes and jaw harp by Jimi. All guitars by song writing partner Neil Warden. Produced and mixed by David Little at Soundstation Studio, Galashiels.
"Tremendous track" wrote music reviewer John Wilmott at Celtic Ways. "This is apparently the first of three new releases planned by Jimi in the coming months. I must say on this form I am very much looking forward to the next instalment."

Jimi combines vocals from the Gaelic ballad 'Theid mi dhachaid' with music from a 500-year-old Pibroch Spaidsearachd Mhic Rath (The MacRae's March 1491)which he plays here on keyboards and synths. A limited edition single from 2015.

Jimi recites the famous poem Ar Lan Y Mor (Down By The Sea) in Welsh while playing an ancient tune from the Scottish Highlands 'The Wee Spree' on small pipes. He also chants the Canntaireachd, a very old method of teaching, learning and memorizing bagpipe tunes. A popular release from 2016.

The battle of Glen Shiel 19719

An original tune celebrating one of Jimi's motorcycling friends 'The Black Knight of the A87'.  This is the final track on Jimi's 2013 album 'Last King of Pictland'.  Joining Jimi is legendary 'Witch Mountain' axeman Rob Wrong from Portland, Oregon, USA on lead guitar, Eric Clark on drums and Rod Christie on rhythm guitar.
Volk Welt in Germany wrote: "Possibly our favourite track on a really great album. If you like bagpipes and rock music - a bit dark and mystical - try it. Five stars".

Perhaps one of Scotland's most famous (or infamous) living bagpipers, Jimi McRae - known to many as 'Jimi the Piper' - needs no introduction to many.
Described as "consistently interesting" by the 'Scotsman' newspaper,  to date McRae has released six acclaimed studio albums and performed live from Beijing, China to Arctic Russia and right across Europe to North America's western seaboard. 
Most of McRae's early work was instrumental, however, in recent years he has experimented more with poetry and song, producing works in English, Scots Gaelic and Welsh. His talents as a piper are always in demand.
