Blinding by name. Blinding by nature. Fresh from major missives on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Circus, Saved and Relief and heavyweight collaborations with the likes of Pete Tong, Alex Kennon makes his debut on Joris Voorn's Spectrum with this rolling juggernaut anthem that joins the dots between the 2000s and 2020s, house and techno, clubs and festivals and all shades of lockdown jadedness in between. It's his most personal release to date, and one that has already found favour with Kolsch, who made an early version a regular set favourite.

''Blinding Lights' is for me not just a record, it's a melting pot of emotions through music, a kind of time machine taking me from the early 2000's to today. I was overjoyed when Joris said he wanted the track for his own label Spectrum. His remix and take on the track will make this project very special, an intimate perspective from a great artist and musician like himself combined with a track I am very proud of.'

An inspired slab of emotional electronic music that nods in all directions and comes with that great sense of momentum and surprise, both Alex's original and Joris's remix hit spots we forgot existed. Lighter times are coming and music like this will be our soundtrack.

Following on from the success of Carlos Bacchus 'Lithops', Onestar Records welcomes Niko (BR) to the label for his debut single. Hailing from Brazil, Nicholas Costa aka Niko first emerged in 2020 with a single 'The Magic of Obsession' via C.A.Y. Records. Immediately recognized for his progressive sound, Niko would forge a strong bond with the Russian imprint going forward, notching eleven discography credits with the imprint across two calendar years. With Niko's 'Because They Love' single landing in January of this year, the Brazilian artist now returns from a ten month hiatus with his much anticipated Onestar debut 'Go On', alongside a remix from Leo Guerrero.

Destined to be a highlight in Niko's discography, it is the melodic stylings of the title selection which get the release underway. Rhythmically charged from the outset, its muscular beats, flickering percussion and rolling groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Wavy arps and astral stabs steal the air across the first act, carrying momentum and mood into the main break. Ghostly vocals delight across the centrepiece, eventually melting down to a bed of percolating electronics, as the groove drops and a series of shapeshifting synths provides a magical dance floor moment. Adding further depth to the release is the companion piece 'Be Again'. Beginning with beautifully contoured bass lines and neatly manicured percussion, its driving design delights as the framework gets filled in and quirky synth lines descend over the groove. Icy pads and mind-bending effects add nicely to the narrative, as striking vocal fragments provide depth and space. Complete with reflective qualities, the centrepiece sits as the most emotive moment on the release, with nostalgic chord changes effortlessly transferring their heartfelt vibe to the dance floor and perfectly setting up a goosebump worthy finale.

The release concludes with Leo Guerrero making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Go On'. Hailing from Colombia, Leo Guerrero is perhaps best known as being one half of the trance duo Smokers Area, a project which ran for the better part of decade, before eventually disbanding in 2018. New inspirations led Leo to progressive music where he restarted his production journey under his own name, while finding a home on Antrim's Strangers Beats and D-Nox's Sprout. Now adding Onestar to his resume, the Medellin resident debuts on the label with a powerful take on 'Go On'. Adding a deeper state of mind, the Colombian artist carves out a smooth groove adorned with enlightening vocal fragments and fresh rhythmic themes. Hypnotic arps add swing to the groove as the first movement evolves, before emotive chord changes provide a bridge into the main break. Coming to full fruition during the centrepiece, the vocal motif opens up, rising triumphantly as astral synths cue a tension filled build and gorgeous crescendo to round the release out in style. Highly recommended.

Release Info: 
The 157th release on Movement Recordings welcomes Jorgio Kioris to the label for a brand new single. The Greek artist and Bloque music founder has had an impressive 2017, highlighted by releases on Asymmetric Recordings, One Of A Kind and Hookah Records. Now as 2018 begins Jorgio steps up for his debut Movement Recordings single entitled 'Linda' alongside remixes from Kastis Torrau and Ziger. 

Long noted for his groovy, dance floor inspired take on progressive house, Jorgio crafts another production bound for club success. A deep, billowing groove sits at the foundation while choppy percussion and vibrant atmospherics steal the air. Smooth chord changes drive the emotional core of the track before a soulful vocal, gentle piano and fuzzed out tones push the narrative to an exhilarating finale. 

The first interpretation is provided by Kastis Torrau who is making his second appearance on the label. The Lithuanian artist first appeared on the Greek imprint in January of 2016 with a remix of 'Intergalactic Summer' by Stas Drive. Now following a successful 2017, complete with a string of Beatport chart hits, Kastis returns to Movement with a stunning interpretation of 'Linda'. With an even greater dance floor sensibility it's swing heavy groove and rhythmic cadence is immediately infectious. The reprocessed vocal adds a ghostly flair while wistful melodies highlight the main break, ultimately setting up a groovy conclusion with tasteful bass modulation. Definitely a great start to 2018 for Kastis.

The second and final interpretation of 'Linda' is provided by Movement Recordings artist Ziger. The Greek producer is making his sixth appearance on the label which follows his remix of 'Marathon' by Tone Depth & Ampish from October of this year. Ziger's pure progressive sound has long been a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo and his remix here looks set for a similar fate. From its galloping groove, spacey effects and enigmatic drum fills there is a lot to like. What's perhaps most compelling is an atmospheric storyboard which takes you closer to the cosmos with a trail of sonic artefacts and mystical melodies leading the charge. A gorgeous remix from Ziger, rounding out what is an excellent offering from Tash's Movement Recordings once again.
