Make Me Happy

A tune I introduce at gigs as simply "a song about looking after your mates."

Writing itself after hearing devastating news of an old friend taking his life in his early 40's, it was closely followed by a friend's father at age 78 and a young boy just 17 my partner taught the same year. Depression doesn't discriminate against age, sex, race or status and can happen at even the 'happiest/life changing' times in one's life.

The R U OK? organisation recommend 4 simple steps if you're concerned about a loved one:

1. Ask "Are you ok?"
2. Listen.
3. Encourage action.
4. Check-in.

Adding to the unassuming voice of Nick Mulvey with the howling swagger of Paolo Nutini, Nolan’s blend of dynamic indy folk initially soothes then intoxifys with a finish of a Glen Hansard-esque knock out.


A singer/songwriter (generally solo but has a regular session band for relevant gigs) with over 1500 fans, and over 20 years of performing at least 100 shows a year, as part of Jimmi's energetic live performance he emulates his recorded compositions by looping guitar and percussion tracks as well as vocal harmonies to bring them to life (think Ed Sheeran or KT Tunstall).
