Slight re-edit of the Paradise Garage classic, Padlock, by Gwen Guthrie (aka First Lady of the Paradise Garage), with Sly & Robbie on the production and Larry Levan assisting in the mix.

A bit of slicing, some rearranging, extending, playing around with some slight overdubbing and some slight added percussion, is what's here. This is one of those tracks that I started and thought, "no, i shouldn't touch it" and then I left it alone. I just came back to it again and decided I'd finish what I'd started and upload it, if for no other reason than someone might discover this amazing tune for the first time. 

As always, if you enjoy the tune, do yourself and the artist a favor and buy their music! This whole Mini LP is phenomenal and belongs in everyone's collection!

Uploading some of the unreleased mix's that I did as part of the M+M Mix series . When I play out some people ask me for some of the ones I play so here is one,  a bit on the long side :-) but this was the guide for the released version. some people prefer it.

Jean Carne - Was That All There Was John Morales Downtown Unreleased M+M Mix 2013

James "D. Train" Williams (lead vocalist & songwriter) with former Mtume member, Hubert Eaves III (keyboards, bass, drums, production &  arrangement) made up D-Train - an American R&B duo hailing from Brooklyn, New York. 
They were signed to Marvin Schlachter's New York based independent dance label - Prelude Records. 
Between 1980 - 1985 they created some of the finest dancefloor classics with their own unique style. The D-Train sound was emulated by the likes of Paul Hardcastle, George Michael/Wham!, & Evelyn King/Kashif, to name a few. 
François Kevorkian, with engineer John "Tokes" Potoker, mixed a lot of the 12in club versions. Shep Pettibone, Paul Hardcastle, Nick Martinelli & David Todd provided additional remixes.

In 1985 DJ Alan 'The Judge' Coulthard created a turntable megamix of some of their well known club hits for the Disco Mix Club - entitled "D-Connection". 
Doctor Rewind has done his best to transfer the mix from the vinyl, to bring it to you in digital streaming form. Hope you enjoy it :)
