Nils Frechilla est un guitariste qui peut passer du rythm-and-blues comme avec le groupe Nantucket, au jazz et aux « musiques du monde » avec sa propre formation, Milón .
Ces titres sont des maquettes de compositions originales de Nils enregistrées dans un studio de répétition en septembre 2013.
Elles ont été captées le groupe jouant ensemble, à l’exception de quelques pistes additionnelles refaites ensuite.
J’ai utilisé l’Antelope audio Orion 32 pour enregistrer via usb sur un simple PC portable à 24bits 44.1khz. Les préamplis micros étaient de chez Universal audio, ART et Joemeek, les micros,  des AKG 414 et 214, un couple de Rode NT5, un DPA 4099 fixé sur la contrebasse et deux excellents Ocean way Sterling audio ST6050 pour le chant (chaudement recommendés).

Comme la pièce était assez sèche et manquait d’espace et de profondeur, je me suis imposé de tenter d’utiliser uniquement la reverb française toute récente de chez UVI, la Sparkverb. Pour mon premier essai avec ce plugin, j’ai été très satisfait du résultat : la Sparkverb est très ludique à utiliser et le résultat sonne très « naturel » selon les souhaits du compositeur.

Le mix a été finalisé dans Studio One de Presonus sans machines externes.

Nils Frechilla is a versatile french guitar player, he plays rhythm-and-blues with the Nantucket band but his own group Milón is more jazz and world music orientated.
These tracks are demos for Nils own compositions recorded in a rehearsal studio in September 2013.
They were recorded with the band playing together with just minor overdubs.
I used the Antelope audio Orion 32 recording into Studio One Pro on my laptop at 24bits 44.1 kHz, preamps were Universal audio, Art and Joemeek, microphones were from AKG, Rode (stereo pair), DPA (4099 instrument mic on double bass) and two excellent Ocean Way Sterling audio ST 6050 on vocals (strongly recommended).

As the room was rather dry and lacked space and depth, I challenged myself using only one reverb plugin, a recent offer from French company UVI, the “Sparkverb”. It was my first try with it and I’ve been really happy with it: it’s very fun to use and the result sounds really natural. You may check it out at:
