I always said I wouldn’t DJ. Although I love music, I’m a dancer. “I can’t be bothered to learn how to DJ and EVERYONE’S A DJ nowadays” I always said. But when I got burned out from work 7 months ago, music became my therapy. We bought a new controller and I took a small DJ course online and learned how to navigate a DJ controller and also with A LOT of help from JK who I can’t thank enough. I always thought DJ’s just twiddled with knobs and pushed buttons, but how wrong I was! It’s not only knowing how the controller works but also knowing your music and how to create a vibe!

Music is what feelings sound like, and the people who know me, knows lyrics and vocals and a good baseline is what Nessie is all about. My mix is comprised of songs that I love due to the lyrics, and lyrics I have changed while singing along with it. 😁

Creating a playlist for my first mix was so hard. But the first 3 tracks is how I feel coming out of this burn out, I went a bit Gospel House but oh man, I felt it through and through and the rest are songs I have loved playing when practicing and loved dancing to during parties and festivals. 

It’s not perfect, but I’m proud of what I have been able to do in 7 months of basic DJ’ing. 

Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to DJ and to finally reach my goal: creating my first mix.

Disco Down Pop-up 002 - Peverell x Mark Ireland Pt. 2

David Morales and Janice Robinson return with There Must Be Love 2025, a fresh take on their much-loved 2015 collaboration. 

Originally released on Def Mix, the track has grown into a modern house classic, pairing Morales’ unmistakable production touch with Robinson’s soaring vocal. Ten years later, the duo revisit the song for Morales’ own DIRIDIM Records, updating it with a crisp, contemporary sound that keeps its spirit intact.

Morales, a Grammy-winning New Yorker whose career spans decades and includes remixes for Mariah Carey, U2, and countless others, alongside an unparalleled contribution to the global house scene,  brings the weight of his legacy to this new version while staying rooted in the present. Robinson, arguably best known for voicing Livin’ Joy’s 90s anthem Dreamer and writing for stars such as Whitney Houston, remains a powerhouse, her voice carrying both emotional depth and club-ready impact.

The 2025 package also features a new remix from Kieloh, the new project founded by Roberto Lopez and Antony Fennel. Blending Afro House rhythms with the hypnotic textures of Melodic Techno, Kieloh debuted with El Agua Corrió on Spinnin’ Records in 2025, created in collaboration with AfroSalto (Gregor Salto & Afrojack), Orito Cantora, and La Chalupa. 

With further releases on Armada and support from artists like Kasango, Emanuele Esposito, Bob Sinclar, and Gregor Salto, their reimagining of There Must Be Love marks a pivotal moment, bridging the classic New York house sound with Europe’s evolving melodic movement.

Released on DIRIDIM, There Must Be Love 2025 is both a celebration of the track’s enduring place in house music and a chance for new audiences to discover its message and power.

With a sound reminiscent to the golden era of bathhouses and tea dances Jimmy DePre pushes out a legacy of queer culture to new generations through tasteful track selections and innovative mixing that can only be described as cruisey, boozey &  ambrosial.

Philadelphia native Jimmy DePre began his professional DJ career in 2002 at the age of 15 landing a job with iconic radio personality and DJ, Jerry Blavat. In 2009, he began his 10 year Friday & Saturday residency at Tavern on Camac, which in 2017 was voted “Best Dance Spot” by Philadelphia Magazine. During this time, gig highlights include a residency at Bobby Viteritti’s Classics Never Die and guest spots at Shep Pettibone’s summer poolside Tea Dances in Asbury Park. 

Committed to respecting the history and importance of the queer contribution to dance music, one of Jimmy’s biggest honors was being asked to play the weekend-long Fire Island celebration marking the 50 year inception of Tea Dance alongside Robbie Leslie, Max Rodriquez & Randy Bettis. Always curious about San Francisco, Jimmy visited in 2014 and fell in love. He played his first guest spot at Go BANG! in 2015 and quickly began traveling more and more frequently to the Bay Area. After guesting at various venues during his visits, Jimmy decided to move to Oakland in 2018. 

His knowledge, drive and unique style quickly led him to becoming a resident at Go BANG!. He’s since played, both solo and with his partner Jeremy Rosebrook, at parties put on by David Harness, Comfort & Joy, Big Muscle, Polyglamorous and Electroluxx, just to name a few. He currently spins a few times a month at Lookout and does guest spots in various Bay Area clubs and bars. In 2022, Jimmy along with Jim Hopkins became the residents for the monthly FILTH party at the SF Eagle. As Jimmy embarks on his 23rd year of sharing music, he’s excited to continue to share his passion of past, present and future with the dance floor.
