Astronauts is Tierney's Fourth official album, and third in the last three years.  He has so far made good on his vow in 2015 to release one major album on his birthday each year. Astronauts lyrically and melodically feels like a singer songwriter album, but the music tells a different story.  This album takes simple and often thoughtful lyrics and puts them over 80's synth sounds, clean guitar, and arpeggios to create face paced and bouncy music with the occasional ballad mixed in.  This album has big vocal showcases and on occasion has full a cappella moments.  Tierney has often made vocals a focal point in previous albums, but in Astronauts you can tell its a main priority.  Often by the end of the song, he has afforded himself some extra time to utilize his vocal range and skill to let loose. Despite the pop overtones in most songs, this is Tierney's least safe album and has many bold moments.  It's impressive to know that he is the sole artist on all but 2 songs and is responsible for writing, producing, and mastering the album as well as creating the art work.  Jimmy has three other musical projects in the works and looks forward to sharing what happens next!

Jimmy Tierney does nearly everything from playing and writing, to mixing and producing all the songs. He plays almost everything on the CD including acoustic and electric piano, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, drum set, and drum machine, and sings just short of every lead vocal, all harmonies, and features a beat box in his a capella songs.
