Leandro Miranda Ling aka Hitch.93 is a UK Garage producer based in Santiago de Chile who has arguably one of the most unique perspectives on the genre. 

He has been producing various flavors including Juke, Footwork and Broken Beats since 2015. Finally in 2020, he’s found himself favouring the purest of old school UKG influenced sounds in the form of 2step and 4x4 tracks and selections.

Hitch.93 pushing the sub-genre of “Half2Step” that’s a hybrid of 2step and Broken beats. In recent years you could find his tracks on such Garage labels as 2tuf 4u Records, Vibesey Records and Amigo Dubs.

Episode 535 brings us a mix from the talented dj/producer and purveyor of RollDaBeats, Haste, representing his label, Twilight!!

Words about the mix from the man himself, Haste: This mix is a selection of upfront bits, a few favs from recent years as well as a handful of older tunes from back in the day. I hope you all enjoy it!

Let's meet our dj for episode 535, Haste:

1. Tell us a bit about you

I’m a music obsessive since an early age and vinyl collector since just turning double digits. I got into jungle in ’94 and never looked back. In the 90s I spent loads of time DJing around the place and on London pirates but fell out of love with it all a bit as the decade rolled into the next one.

As this was happening I set up RollDaBeats, a discography website for underground dance music. We catalogued releases, ran wicked old skool parties and generally nerded out over jungle / hardcore history. After a recent outage the community is back online and it’s been touching realising how many people still used and appreciated it.

After a long spell of not being involved in music but still keeping my ears open to it the recent resurgence in retro sounds led to me get back into production and DJing, and I launched my label Twilight last year.

Big thanks to everyone who’s supported my music so far and all the DJs and producers who are making all the amazing music coming out right now. It’s an awesome time for these sounds.

2. Tell us about upcoming releases you have coming out

Twilight #2 is on the way featuring 3 cuts of ’94 influenced jungle (Selec from the mix is from it). There should be two more releases happening soon enough after that, if all goes to plan.

I’ve got a new project called Nation with my partner in crime Craggz (Craggz & Parallel, Battery), which I feature some tracks from here. We’re still working out what to do with them but some should hopefully hitting shelves at some point in the next few months.

I’ve got loads of other material and fresh collabs coming so there should be plenty appearing in the next few months.

3. Tell us about gigs you have coming up

I’m launching Twilight Sessions in London on Friday 5th April down at Four Quarters in Peckham. It’s totally free and DJs playing are Dwarde, Law, Craggz, Theorie and me. Come down to hear new retro sounds as well as plenty of classics. If you get bored of the tunes you can always pop upstairs to play classics arcade games. Win-win.

Later in the year I’m looking to bring back the RollDaBeats nights that we did over a decade ago with a focus on old skool vinyl selections. Follow me on socials to find out more.

Born and raised in Detroit, Ximon is a dynamic DJ and producer who brings a unique blend of sounds to the electronic music scene. While Detroit is renowned as the birthplace of techno, Ximon's sound is heavily influenced by UK Garage and Garage House, genres that resonate with his love for old school house chords, nostalgic R&B samples, and infectious swing and faster tempos.

His productions have garnered attention and respect within the scene, leading to releases on esteemed labels such as Strictly Flava, Pogo House, and Step2. Starts off a bit jungle, then into Nookie-Bukem-Fabio styles, Alex Reece Pulp Fiction, Miles from Home (nights at Logical Progression, the End) deep rolling subs, two step beats, soulful n jazzy with some deeper Moving Shadow sounds and early liquid vibes.

I simply recorded the 1st track from Nookie's ministry of sound radio show. I mixed into that first track with vinyl and it's all me from there on. I love that 1st track but  could never find out what it was called or who made it, and I just had to start a mix with it.
