@bushwackaofficial is a producer and DJ who really needs no introduction. He has been part of the fabric of the electronic music in the UK since the late 90's both in his own right and as one half of chart conquering duo Layo & Bushwacka!. whose track Love Story Vs Finally has become an evergreen staple since it's release in 2002. That track is only a tiny fraction of the Bushwacka story though.

One of his next gigs see's him land at Campo Sancho where he is playing on the Saturday night, 30th July. Ahead of the gig he put together this mix for us and I spoke to him at length about his musical upbringing and his extensive career along with what we can expect from his set at Campo Sancho and loads more.

Jimpster: The UK House craftsman shaping soundscapes with soul and subtlety

If you’ve ever lost yourself in the smooth, rolling rhythms of deep house, you’ve probably had Jimpster to thank without even knowing it.  Behind the decks, in the studio, or even just in the groove of his own life, Jimpster—aka Jamie Odell—is one of the quiet yet crucial architects of the genre, a producer who’s somehow managed to keep his sound fresh while paying homage to house music’s roots.  With releases stretching back to the early 90's, Jimpster’s sonic journey has evolved from the cut n paste, sample-heavy bedroom productions of his early releases to the deep house anthems he’s known for today.  He’s the artist who’s mastered the art of organic warmth, blending digital precision with analog textures in ways that sound both timeless and ahead of their time.  His music often draws from a deep well of influences: jazz, funk, soul, electro and even ambient textures—but it’s always tethered to the dancefloor.  He’s the kind of producer who can make a sub-bass rumble feel like a heartbeat while surrounding it with lush, atmospheric synths and intricate percussion that push his tracks into a hypnotic, almost meditative space.

Jimpster's discography is packed with both original tracks and remixes that make you move without even realising it: there’s the spaced-out, trippy disco allure of “English Rose”, the groove-heavy slo-mo swagger of “The Sun Comes Up” (which is basically the soundtrack to *that* sunset), and let’s not forget the timeless “Dangly Panther.”  Each track feels like a wave—a smooth ride that pulls you along effortlessly but leaves you wanting more.  His remix of Osunlade’s Momma’s Groove has become iconic but he has also offered his golden touch to artists as diverse as Seal, Bob Marley, Kerri Chandler, Josh Wink and Adam Port to name just a few.

But Jimpster’s influence doesn’t just stay in the studio.  As a DJ, his sets are like a carefully curated journey, blending stripped back disco, underground house and the more soulful end of techno into smooth, liquid transitions that captivate without ever feeling rushed.  Whether he’s playing an intimate, low-key club night or a larger festival stage, his mixes retain a sense of control—an ability to weave a narrative out of tempo, tone and texture, always keeping the dancefloor locked in.  From Panorama Bar (Berlin) to Cielo (NYC), Womb (Tokyo) to Fabric (London), Jimpster has pretty much span there and returned with the T shirt.

As co-founder and A&R of Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur and most recently Cyphon Recordings, he’s helped nurture an entire generation of producers, sharing his deep understanding of groove and sound design with those who came after him.  Despite his three decades in the business and pivotal role in shaping the electronic music landscape, Jimpster remains relentlessly focused on who, or what, will come next, as excited as ever by discovering the freshest new talent and sounds to expose to the world.

Jimpster’s music is a reflection of his unrelenting pursuit of musical depth in club music.  A balance between nostalgic warmth and forward-focussed vision that continues to captivate listeners and dancers alike.
