I did this mix back in lockdown as an extension of a livestream set I had done for Movin House a few weeks before. Tripoli for me was THE label in the mid to late 90s and early part of the 2000s, and I played pretty much every release. So here's my six hour tribute of my favourites and hope yours too!

This year I will be taking to the vinyl for the big 'Enter the Dragon' party at DEPOT in Cardiff. 

So I recently decided to jump on the decks and started digging deep into the tracks that ripped the roof off Vision 2k & Enter the Dragon.

Its seat of the pants mixing just like the good old days and was recorded using the orginal Vision 2k decks!

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

In 1993, Jimpy emerged as one of the original resident DJs of the iconic Hippo Club, widely regarded as one of the most memorable and dynamic clubs in Wales. Throughout his residency, Jimpy shared the stage with legendary DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, Sven Väth, Sister Bliss, John Kelly, Laurent Garnier, and many more. His talents also made him a regular fixture at Timeflies in Cardiff, one of the UK's longest-running club brands.

Following his success in Wales, Jimpy embarked on a global DJing journey, performing at esteemed clubs worldwide. In 1997, he demonstrated his mixing prowess by securing second place in the UK Ministry of Sound mixing championship, a notable achievement during the vinyl era. By 2000, Jimpy was recognised as one of the top DJs globally, ranking 54th in DJ Magazine's Top 100.

In the same year, Jimpy launched his own successful weekly club nights, including "Enter the Dragon" at Vision 2K alongside Paul Oakenfold and later the renowned ROAR. His dynamic sets have graced some of the most prestigious clubs and tours, including Slinky, Cream, Back to Basics, Renaissance, Miss Moneypenny’s, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Good Greef, The Escape Club, Naughty But Nice, Republica @ Bakers, Labyrinth in Zurich, Queens in Hong Kong, Watapalava tour in the USA, Club Quality in Helsinki, Club SOI in Northern Ireland, The Government in Toronto, and Zouk in Singapore.


After an eight-year hiatus from the music scene to focus on his software development company, Jimpy co-launched Cellar Door in Cardiff. These underground raves, hosted inside an old bank vault, became a sensation, consistently filling the venue with local DJ talent from South Wales and ran until 2019.

In 2023, Jimpy orchestrated a highly successful Enter the Dragon reunion, attracting over 1,000 attendees. He delivered a memorable 2-hour 30-minute trance classics set on vinyl alongside Mauro Picotto and Fergie. Building on this success, 2024 will see Enter the Dragon return, featuring talents such as Giuseppe Ottaviani, Factor B, Rob Tissera, Lisa Pin-Up, and more at District Nightclub.

Jimpy also reignited his music production career in 2022/23, releasing a three-track EP with Shodan Records. In 2024, his track "Real DJs" will be released on Rhythm Cult, featuring remixes by Aubrey Fry and Pico Boulevard, showcasing the talents of South Wales. The track has already garnered support from industry heavyweights including Hernan Cattaneo and Anthony Pappa, with a release slated for the end of summer.
Additionally, Jimpy is working on a joint album project with the remarkable Aubrey Fry, known for his features on John Digweeds Bedrock and Sasha's Last Night on Earth, promising to deliver another groundbreaking contribution to the electronic music scene.
