I played Catherine back when it came out and the mechanics were really fun but yeah... that story is not good. The trans stuff sucks, the main character sucks, just nothing I enjoyed narratively there.

I feel like the bar for "shitty" in the trans community is starting to border on the ridiculous here. I don't think it's shitty for a character to act shocked at the revelation that a person they thought was female, in fact has a penis under their skirt. I think most people would be suprised, it's a normal reaction to anything you didn't think was the reality of something. My line is when they call it bad or wrong or whatever. Normal reactions of surprise, or something of that nature, are not what i would describe as shitty. I feel like this is the type of mentality that gets created when everyone around you codles you and tells you it's okay. Like yes, positivity is great, but eventually it makes you hyper sensitive to anything you percieve as not high positivity. Like the description of the catherine game here. It's not even anything bad, just a character acting shocked, and the description you give is that it's shitty. I think it's a mountain being made of a mole hill situation.

lets be clear, de-transtioners are valid as trans people, sometime, very rarely it happens.

"Oh fuck, Enid Blyton. PROBABLY BAD." Jim's statements about questionable celebrities reflect on my own feelings about them so accurately, it's quite frightening... x3
