31.03.2023 - Jingleproducent Top Format in Haarlem maakte in de beginjaren van zijn bestaan (sinds 1974) ook veel flexibele reclameplaatjes, die je zo af en toe nog wel op een platenmarkt tegen komt. Een voorbeeld is dit reclameplaatje voor Elna naaimachines, uitgekomen rond 1975. Op kant A "naaimachine-wetenswaardigheden" en een 'Song voor Elna'. De B-kant bevat het "Elnita Sprookje"  ingesproken door Ed Lautenschlager.

De inhoud van het plaatje is gemaakt door Top Format-oprichter Ren Groot en door Gerard Christenhuis, een begenadigd jingle-schrijver/componist van hoog niveau. Ren Groot: "Hij runde de MC Studio in Nederhorst den Berg en was ook de bedenker van 'Heerlijk, helder, Heineken'. Ben ook met hem in Memphis bij Tanner geweest. Heeft de Elna-song bedacht. Elna was een merk van de firma Cardozo, hier in Haarlem op de Cruqius. Waren al een klant van mij bij Radio Noordzee", aldus Ren Groot.

Elna is een van oorsprong Zwitsers bedrijf, opgericht in 1934. Het maakte oorspronkelijk hoogwaardige uurwerk-artillerieontstekers, die met name werden gebruikt in Duits luchtafweergeschut. Later schakelde het over op vreedzame industrie. De onderneming lanceert in 1940 de Elna #1, de eerste compacte, draagbare, elektrische naaimachine. De Elna #1 was groen van kleur, een doorbraak in die tijd. De belangrijkste innovatie was verder zijn 'vrije arm', een functie die voorheen alleen op industriële naaimachines te vinden was. De merknaam Elna bestaat nog steeds.
