This is the 1st thing I have written for a while. A simple and short remembering of all the 1st of May songs, which of course will mean somewhat different things in both hemispheres. They will however be about change and the excitement that summer or winter can bring to us all. As I was out walking in the month of May.......so many songs thru the ages start right there.

I would maybe like to develop this into a 4 minute....ish Symphonic form.

The 1st Of May

It scares me how similar this is to stuff I recorded 30 years ago when a friend lent me an Art SGX Unit. I loved the colours, dunno whose guitar I used....but back then I can see I was an ambient kinda slow hand guy, sounds dripping with meaning.....my meaning.
So here we are 30plus years on, different technology that I am playing with and the same old me. Old being the operative word. I think I can move beyond this. Give me time, and we all don't know how much of that we have left. Enjoying being creative as ever.A sense of lostness here I dont personally feel.......summer is on the way......excuse the odd pops and clicks........still refining the art, and here I blend playing guitar with some of my sound libraries.......

Making things happen in lockdown. Making inroads with my composing, my preset building and my recording and mastering. Fun with some new toyz. Fun playing guitar, (Line 6 Helix Stomp XL) Hence the name! (3 layers of me playing here on gat)and as always love the Native Instruments toys....and that Ricki Bass library.
Have always been drawn to fusion. A few EDM beats here to keep moi on time. Pretty pleased with the direction I am going. Short and sweet.

I have no swagger or stomp around or about lockdown. While I support this government decision 100%, I know it will be shattering for many.....but I believe we have no other effective options.

The Lockdown Stomp

Last day of lockdown, back to school tomorrow. A very common and familiar chord sequence for an easy bit of fun. I don't play to charts so here I learned how to use a marker track to write the chord changes in for playing bass and organ to and sounding reasonably on the button. Excuse the few pops and clicks, imperfection is okay with me for so I am..........and maybe you are too. It's a philosophical choice to leave....hand made and all that. I love the Japanese pottery philosophy that welcomes cracks and imperfections as the hand of God........sometimes we control things so much and have stuff so perfect we leave no room for random or the divine.....

A composition with minimal distractions but a strong sense of mystical. Composed using Maschine Mk3. I actually prefer writing with Maschine pads over keyboard. There is something there that expands my creativity as opposed to restricting it as a keyboard does. I readily acknowledge that part of that problem is perhaps a lifetime of telling myself or being told I can't play keyboards.....so I approach the pads without that. If I could play the keys as though I had never seen one that could help ....a hard thing to get out of a 64 year old head.
