Summary:
You close your eyes and you start to dream. Slowly, you get more immersed in the dream and while enjoying this dream…there is an abrupt stop. You’ve woken up and you realise that it is just a dream and that is life. No matter how nice a dream is, it will not be able to happen in real life - for most cases.
We can hope for the best that things will go our way but we also need the mental preparation that things can just go the opposite way and when that happens with us having high expectations, we will be disappointed. If we can avoid it, we should try to because the feeling of disappointment sucks as we all encountered before (unless disappointment is a form of motivation to work harder). Moreover, it is up to us as to how we shape our own lives. There are definitely other factors that can affect our lives but we have the ability to decide what we want and don't want.

Differentiation factor:
During the entire piece except for the last part, it is dependent on the listener to create their own perspective of what is going on in the piece based on their imagination. Everyone will have different stories/thoughts when listening to the piece but will eventually feel the shock at the end to wake people up from their “dream”. There is freedom in terms of what the listeners are thinking while listening to the piece but at the end, the piece controls every listener to feel the shock from the relaxing atmosphere of the piece.

The Reality of a Dream

Summary : 

This is a funny dumb song that I wrote using puns and lame jokes that would make you laugh your ass off. The main idea of this song is to bring out not only the pun but also the joy and happiness/laughter of the song, making sure that people who are listening would carry on listening to it because they love the puns and jokes and want more of it. It is also for those who need a happy song to lighten up or lift up their mood on a sad moody day. 


Differentiation factors: (Why should people care?!) 

This song is very much different from any genre of songs you get to hear out there. Most songs are singing/ rap, but this song is different. It's NARRATIVE (plus singing) 
Many normal songs out there are about love/hatred etc and very little comedy song that focuses on the lyrics and the instrumental. I have also fun puns and jokes so funny and often I will use it on my friends and they will always say I’m super lame (u can ask them). Over the years, I have gathered my puns/ lame jokes vocal. Therefore, this idea came into my mind to use what I’m “good” at and put them together into a song for people to enjoy. 

I believe people would want to hear this song because who doesn’t love puns/jokes?! Who doesn’t want to laugh and smile?! Not only that, once they start listening to it, the will most probably carry on listening till the end because they will be so curious to find know what the answer to some riddles and also learn some puns skills from there. Furthermore, if the song is good, they would probably pass it around to their friends so that all of them can laugh together. 


DELIVERY STRATEGIES :

Since the song is a happy and light feeling, I chose to have an acoustic guitar as the main instrument. This is to bring out the rhythmic groovy feeling of the song. I kept the arrangement of the song simply because since this is a pun/joke song, I want the focus to be on the lyrics with the instruments supporting behind. I also added some bells/vibraphone to add to the “kiddy - ness “ and innocent happy vibe. Also, I try to match the instruments according to the lyrics. For example, after the 2nd joke about the skeleton and trombone, I added a “DADA” trombone sound. Another one is the quack sound and also the da dum tss drum sound effect. 

For the chorus, I imagine a group of kids singing that song together. To achieve that, I specifically wanted a choir of people to sing the chorus with me to bring out the choir effect. Also, I wanted this song to be an informal and free song, that's why you might hear people casual talking and laughing at the back about random stuff but yet at the same time joining in the chorus at the same time. Towards the end, I used Leon name to end the song to make it more creative since my targetted audience involves Leon and also the other lecturers. (The reason why I used “Leon” is that it rhymes the best with “sONG” no hard feelings Erica and Roger haha )

Summary + Differentiation Factor:
This week, I wanted to try and see if a song can be carried even without a melody, so I tried just having something chordal and just adding percussion.

Summary: 
This piece is about a character having a nightmare at the beginning and slowly starts to change into a dream that isn't so bad after all.

Differentiation: 
There is a very big contrast in my piece in comparison with the start and ending points in this piece. Since I have not come across tracks with contrasting parts in the song, I decided to give it a shot.

Delivery:
As I wanted my piece to sound as creepy and eerie in the beginning, I used a piano track called 'Ghost Piano' to play the lead melody lines bring out the nightmare vibe.

Dream

We love some external noise because we don't live in a silent world. anyways...why such a song? I was thinking about what the afterlife can be. Is there really a Heaven and Hell or will we turn into ashes and lose our soul? Will I still be able to think about the things that are currently happening on Earth once I die? Unfortunately, we don't have the answer till we experience death, hence the sudden pause at the end because death is unpredictable.
